View Full Version : Whitepages for Mobiles?

I had to look up someone's number. I decided to give the Whitepages a go
using my NextG mobile. Unfortunately what was presented to me on the
screen was jumbled up and generally unviewable.

Today I browsed the Whitepages website but there is no link for a "wap"
enabled version.

The built in browser on the phone has links to various Telstra pages
including Yellowpages, but it's useless for residential lookups.

Who can suggest an alternative for mobiles?

In the end I had to call directory assistance (you know, the old fashioned
way) which pretty well made the idea of NextG redundant when it comes to
this particular function.

Hey Parkinson where are you?

Wonder what the Tel$tra shill has to say (prolly nothing) about this?

Yup.

Not so obvious, but you can also use Sensis Search for WP lookups.

In the Telstra WAP home-page/portal, the Sensis Search page includes a
search box and radio buttons that let you choose between web, white
pages business or white pages residential search. You just enter the
name and suburb.

Thanks for that. Looking at it now.

The "radio buttons" is a drop down menu. And you enter in the name and
suburb in the same field.

Not so obvious.

Anyway, I tried it and yes, the display is a lot easier to read than using
the Whitepages site. Unfortunately it didn't display all the available
entries. The name that I entered for the suburb as 6 entries. 4
residential with landline numbers and two mobiles associated with two of
the entries.

Sensis only showed 3 entries and none of the one that I was looking for
were displayed (his home and mobile). I would have had to ring the guy's
brother to get his number if I was relying on it right now.
