6kg compared to 18kg for the alloy equivalent. Apparently they don't

If you're looking for one of the coolest rims money can buy, German
specialist "Wheelsandmore" has the answer to your prayers: the
"Megalight-Forged-Series". These two piece wheels combine carbon-fiber
rims with ultra light alloy centers and titanium screws (approximately
40% weight savings compared to a stainless steel screw).
According to the "Wheelsandmore", the 20-inch version of this
technically advanced carbon-fiber / alloy wheel weighs a mere 6 kg or
about 13.2 lbs. That's compared to 18 kg or approx 40 lbs of a
standard same-size alloy wheel. But nothing comes for free as a set of
20-inch Megalight Forged Series wheels cost EURO 20,000 or $29,000. The
carbon-fiber / alloy wheels are available in 18 to 23'' sizes.

Too pretty for a 4by4!
Would suit a new SSV wagon or Chrysler 300C though but its a bit steep
for some rims though. :-)

Wonder if they do a Morris Minor 1000 wheel?

**I'd like to see some crash tests first. I have a kite with carbon fibre
spars. The spars are very strong, but they reach a 'critical point' where
destruction is catastrophic. They break when in an uncontrolled high speed
crash. A mate had a very high end bicycle. Carbon fibre frame. A car hit him
and (as he put it), "the bike exploded" beneath him. I'll stick with my
chrome-moly chassis thanks.

The race masts for my windsurfing gear are 100% carbon and seem to
snap when put under a lot of tension and exposed to heat.
Doesn't really make you want to fly in a 380 either :) At least during
the day anyway...
I suspect that if these wheels had any impact damage you would throw
them away and not bother trying to repair them.
