View Full Version : The D3 Moves To The Beat Of A Different Drum!!

It was bound to happen. You take the D3 out in public and it's simply going
to have to pick up the tempo and make its own beautiful music. The D3 being
such a trend setter in everything it comes near, being a metronome is a
cakewalk.

Some of those street artists are better and more original than the
"established" musicians.
When I lived in Marina del Rey, I often went to the Venice boardwalk, where
all sorts of interesting people can be found.
One day I saw this amazing guy, Jamey Turner:

He had me "play" one of the bass glasses with Chariots of Fire.
In real life it sounds much better.

You're not kidding. This guy was good! He was bringing people out of the
woodwork from all around him to drop the dollars in his bucket. That
cheapskate in the back only dropped a dollar in instead of a 5-spot.

Next up: Rita learns about motion blur, proper use of or
preventing.
Also next up: Rita learns that
<img src="http://www.geocities.com/ritaberk2008/pics/Buckets.jpg"
width="340" height="512">
is *not* a good way of producing a thumbnail, on the contrary.
Some day: Rita learns controlling highlights (the D3 just
doesn't cut it the way Rita uses it[1]) and image composition
(starting with "lowering your point of view with children and
sitting drummers is a good idea").

[1] Just look at the white buckets in the sunlight. And here I
thought the D3 had 'Active D-Lighting' ... which has to be
switched on, of course. Alternatively there's the fill-in
flash.

Yes, Wolfie is a blast! He's even a better photographer than Mark! How do
I know this? Wolfie doesn't post any of his great works since he's too
embarrassed. At least Mark has the balls to post his pics. Don't get me
wrong, Mark's pics aren't good; he just has the balls to post them.

Hey Rita, dear, got a couple of questions for you. Given you say my
stuff is all unmitigated crap, and that WW hasn't posted anything...
Does someone else's bad pictures mean that yours are therefore good?
Does the fact that someone doesn't post pictures seeking ego-strokes,
mean that yours are therefore good?
The answer is of course "yes" (but only for a *very specific* type of
person..) (O:
I agree with Wolf's comments, namely the composition, cropping and
choice of angle are all rather poor. The contrast/highlight control
isn't a good as it could be, although I don't find that as big a
problem as the composition errors. Perhaps Rita would like, for a
change, to actually comment on the criticisms...
Does she think it is better because she stood as she did and didn't
get lower?
Does she think that by changing her angle or zooming or foot-zooming
she could have *improved* her work?
Or is it just *perfect* in her eyes..?
(O:
But I see you got some other folk who liked it, here are all the
positive comments you got:
-
-
Oh. My mistake. Sorry.
Maybe you should post links to my pictures again in the hope that
someone will join in with your non-specific criticisms... Or perhaps
tell a few more lies?
You do seem *awfully* precious about pictures that you post for
critique - why do you start crossposting madly, defending yourself,
and changing the subject so much, when you simply get a few tips to
improve.
We're just trying to help.

Ya think?
My attitude is that we can make these attention-seeking posts at least
slightly useful if we post genuine criticism...

LOL! No, I'm just supplying the podium and letting Mark wind himself up. I
must admit that he's a great dancer.

Who cares, besides you, of course? Again, remember we discussed "targeted
audience" before.

Which Rita either never understood or ignores: Zie's target
audience is obviously not found in the groups zie's posting
zir images.
What that says about Rita ... don't ask me!
Except that maybe zie's being paid 2 cents[1] by Canon to make
Nikon and or Nikon users look imbecile and antargonistic.

Translation:
"I can't answer those questions as they are too embarrassing."
"I only post my bad images. If only you guys were worthy of seeing my
good stuff.."
"I *meant* to do that."
"I refuse to get into any discussion about image quality or how to
improve my imaging."
Yes, understood, Rita. I see no problems with that approach. Carry
on. As I will.

What kind of "genuine" criticism can you post other than "it's still
crap!"? An out of focus snapshot of a squirrel's butt is always going to
be an out of focus snapshot of a squirrel's butt, no matter how fancy
the camera you take it with.
Bret, Annika, Helen, Douglas, Rita ... and all of their sock-puppets and
sycophants are *BORING* me to tears. The pictures don't matter. It's all
competition on who's got the biggest dick (or who IS the biggest dick)
based on which one has wasted the most money on their camera gear.
The only thing I still haven't figured out is if these cameras are
great; can do all the things the subject lines claim, what do the
cameras need with these clowns?
