Anybody had any bad/good experiences with this device ? Avail on the 'net
for $279.00 plus shipping.
Considering using it for my 8th gen panny (SD) so I can get the HD channels.
Cheers

Is it worth spending anything to get the current HD channels? The
programs look like a load of crap to me.

Get the new Topfield Tf7010ht for $199 from Retravision. Its a much better
performing box than the Humax.
Has composite sd video and audio out so you can watch the HD content
channels on your SD only tv.

Cool thanks, will check it out.
One other thing while I am here, assuming I connect the TV to the Component
OUT, can I use the S-Video to connect to my HDD/DVD to record SD content. I
know I can't record in HD through the S-Video, but am hoping I can still
record stuff from the normal SD channels.
Probably sounds like a daft question for some of you - but I don't know so I
am asking ;-))
TIA

...BTW my panny accepts 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i (HD) signals through the
component sockets - according to page 30 of my users guide ;-))
My (ever so green) laymans understanding is that 720p and 1080i refer to HD
resolution if I were viewing on a proper HD TV. yes ?? no ??

The quick answer is
SBS HD 576p
ABC HD 720p
7 HD 1080i
9 HD 1080i
10 HD 1080i

Some HD settop boxes will downconvert the HD signal so it can be viewed on
an SD tv via the Composite or Svideo poutputs. That is what you usually use
to connect to your external hdd or dvd video recorder.
