Ghosts, the after life, mediums who can talk to the dead, the Yowie, UFO's or whatever else there is out there... Do you believe in any of it or have you experienced any of it for yourself?
Spill it people!
I believe there are ridgy didge mediums out there and of course I believe in life after death, I also believe in UFO's and things we can't see but know they're there. I believe there is a billion dollars I've never seen it but I know it's there. :D
My cents cents worth. :)

Nice one SHY. :)
In regards to life after death, do you mean reincarnation of some kind or the pearly gates to heaven or something else?

I have had a few very bizarre incidents with what I truly believe were some for of ghosts. The two I can remember clearly are;
1. I was at school camp in year 8 and we were all using tents. It was very cold and very windy and I woke up to people talking really loudly in my tent and when I sat up there was only me and my classmate in the tent. He was fast asleep.. I got a really cold chill down my spine and felt a bit spooked. I got out of the tent and had a look around with my torch. There was no one to be seen. I heard the talking in my tent again and was convinced it was my mate playing a trick. So I turned my torch off and climbed back into my tent. I watched his mouth and it wasn't moving.. But I could still hear the talking. That had to be the single creepiest night of my life.
2. I had people over at my mum's place while she was out for the night. The layout of the unit was very simple. You walk into the front door and you're straight in the lounge room. You can either go through a door that leads to the kitchen/toilet/dining area or you can go upstairs where the bathroom and bedrooms are. Anyway all of the people who were around were in the lounge room playing video games and drinking and smoking and talking really loud while I was making something chicken nuggets and chips in the oven. Once they were ready I server them up in big bowls and brought them through to the lounge room. I left the kitchen for no more than 30 seconds before I had to return to get some sauce and drinks. When I walked in the drawers were emptied and the cupboards were open. All the cutlery and utensils and paperwork that was in the drawers had been strewn across the kitchen and dining room. I walked back into the lounge room and my mates were convince that I was playing a joke on them. To this day I can't explain what exactly happened but I know for a fact that I was not gone from the kitchen long enough for one of them to manage getting in there and causing that much of a mess.
I believe we are on this earth to learn and when we die we take on more learning, we come back as a newborn baby and we start again with no knowledge of our previous life and just hope we learn more, once we get to a level of learning what we can then we stay where ever that is and not come back again but we would be very great special spirits to get to that. Life is all a learning curb and times get really tough which makes life harder, I don't have answers for most things like why some people have certain problems that can't be helped. But I know when it's my time to cross over I'll be asking a lot of questions :D I'm not scared of dying and I believe one or more of my family members that are in spirit will be there to meet me, there is so many people I love passed over it'll be like going home to me. Regarless of whether anyone agrees with me ( which I doubt, each to their own ) but besides that I hope this makes sense I'm not good at explaining things. :o

Of course UFO's are just unidentified flying objects, ie they're as yet unidentified/unexplained. OOOOooooooooOOOooo, yet another opportunity to erect a belief system around speculation. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y171/charlou/hmmm.gif

Alone in the house, tools strewn across the lounge room floor. He walked out with a couple of tools to work on something-or-other for a couple of minutes, then came back to find everything gone. Every little hole punch and spanner. Heavy scent of perfume.
One month later, everything back, exactly where it had been. Heavy scent of perfume.
I think I've written about this stuff before on the phorums somewhere Watchie.

I remember he was offering that money not long after Don Lane threw a hissy fit on The Don Lane Show, because Randi said "Stokes was a fake" I think that was her name. :D No one yet has got the money, of course I'd love the money who wouldn't. :D But just maybe the real mediums aren't meant to be communicating with the spirit world for things like money maybe it's for other reasons. I don't know any other reason with still believing there are genuine mediums, that keep a low profile maybe.
I knew you'd come up with a good one femme. :D

Creepy. What were they talking about?
Hard to say. It wasn't a proper conversation. Seemed sort of like there were 3 or 4 different voices and they seemed to all be involved in different conversations that somehow involved each other.. If that makes any sense. All I know is that when you experience something like that and then go for a trip with your school the next year to the Port Arthur in Tasmania. You instantly have this ability to tell when something is genuinely creepy and when something is just for show.

Ghosts - I'll believe it when I see 100% proof.
Yowie - I'll believe it when I see 100% proof and the same for this kind of 'creature' in other countries.
UFOs - I'll believe it when I see 100% proof, but find it hard to believe there isn't other forms of life out in that massive universe. I also believe that if something already has been here, it would be hidden from the public by governments anyway.
Mediums - Believe it when I see actual 100%proof. Sure, some people may get feelings at times, but I shiver when I'm cold and that doesn't mean that some dead convict is trying to make contact.
When I was a kid, I did wake up and see a small man in our caravan looking at me, smile and then walk off through the end of the caravan and for years, I was sure that I was awake and it happened and when I woke my parents and told them, they stopped me from watching Lost In Space.
Now I think that it was just a vivid nightmare and my parents will pay for not letting me watch Lost In Space until I was older. :p

Just an aside, regarding beliefs about UFOs, has anyone watched the film, Mysterious Skin?

My family talk about all sorts of crap to do with being 'fey' and knowing when bad things have happened to each other etc etc. I don't get any of those sorts of 'sixth sense' things and, interestingly, am one of the more sane members of my family. :rolling: They're nice people, but the 'black dog' pervades and medication is no stranger to my poor 'psychic' sister. She who calls me in the middle of the night because she had a premonition that I'm in danger (of uninterrupted sleep, apparently).
When my paternal grandfather died, my maternal grandfather drove across half the state because he had a dream that I 'needed' him. Blokey old farmer. It was pretty awkward, there I was at the funeral of one grandfather being peered at anxiously by the one that was still alive, who was far too much of a man to actually talk about death and grieving in any meaningful way, but convinced by a dream that his mere presence was going to save my life or something. It was nice to have him there of course.
My sister hallucinated all the time as a kid. Terrifying stuff, nightmares every night. When she was very little - two or three years old - she used to disappear for hours on end and claim she was with "Molly". This turned out to be one of the names on the partially-buried headstones in the back paddock, and my sister couldn't read yet.
There's something to be said for mental illness creating the paranormal, but there's also something to be said for the mentally ill being more finely 'attuned' to the paranormal. I can imagine this is something of a frustration to those in the thick of it - what's valid, what's not?
I have a couple of weird things that have happened to me, but the most vivid and tenacious is something like what happened to Watchie. When I was about six or seven, I woke up in my grandparents house (again, in the middle of a farm on a very dark night) in the middle of the night. I woke up because there was a high pitched ringing in the air, a bit like that ring you hear after listening to loud music for too long. When I opened my eyes, there was a single point of light floating in the air at the foot of my bed, from which this high pitched ringing was emanating. I thought of it as an 'eye'.
Needless to say it scared the living crap out of me and I hid under the covers. I peeked a couple of times and it was still there. Eventually I had to concede I was awake and it wasn't going away, and even in my childish state I decided I must be misinterpreting what I was looking at. Maybe it was a reflection from the mirror or something. So I crawled out, looked back at the eye for a long few moments, then crawled towards it down to the end of my bed, so shit-scared I couldn't even look at it. When I got to the end of my bed, there it was, floating a few centimetres in front of my face in mid-air, louder now. I squinted at it and reached out a hand to wave about underneath it, in case it was - who knows. Something sitting on top of something else. It wasn't. It was a point of light floating in mid air, emitting a shrill note.
I couldn't really cope with this, so I kind of fell off the side of the bed and crawled for the hallway, too terrified to stand up. I was making for my grandparents' room. I got to the hallway and stopped. Guarding my grandparents' bedroom door was the silhouette of a large black dog, not unlike the cattle dog who had just died. I called its name. It answered with a low "wuff". It didn't move. My ability to cope was really leaving me.
My last resort was to crawl into the bathroom to my left. On my hands and knees on the cold tiles, I once again heard that shrill note start up, looked up and saw the eye 'open' once again in mid air, above me. I curled up on the floor and passed out. :|
I woke up in my bed next morning and put it down to a lucid dream. It stayed with me ever since though, being quite an intense experience. About a year later I told my mother and grandmother about it, and mum told me she had actually found me asleep on the bathroom floor and put me back in bed.
