Just tried it on my Samsung A501. Obviously it's an LG specific code, despite
the OP's suggestion that it might be a NextG-wide thing, with the exception of
Nokias.

Hmmm...Not quite what I said, is it?

And I quote from my original post: "He [Tech] mentioned he
only knew the (Engineering info??) code for his phone (LG TU-550), but said it
was the same as for the LG TU-500 and ZTE (Telstra) 165 phone. Possibly others,
but not all nextG handsets. He didnt believe it worked on any of the Nokia
models."

It's more or less, if not verbatim, what you said. That it "might" work on other
NextG handsets other than LG. But in this case it doesn't work on on specific
Samsung model.

I missed the orginal post in this series, so I'm not sure how old this
is. I have a Nokia 6120C. The only time I get cell info is when it
roams onto GSM.
