Recently got bombed by malware / virus and eventually formatted C: and reinstalled provided drivers.

I am running a NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT video card but since the format I am frustrated that when I'm on-line the pages i'm looking at tend to 'ripple' (refresh) rather than just move cleanly.

Initially when i went into device drivers the video driver for NVIDIA was disabled. If I enable it them when I reboot I come back to a screen resolution of 640 x 480 and it will not let me change it.

I've since disabled the GeForce driver and my deeper resolution in back (1280 x 1084) but it goes back to 'ripelling' on web pages.

Any idea how go back to just having what i would call an 'active' page where when i use the scroll down arrow it moves rather than refreshes....?

Thanks for your response but i've done that already - got the 100mb NVIDIA QT 8 series driver yesterday. I installed it and when i rebooted i was stuck with a 640 x 480 resolution - would not change any way shape or form.

When i disabled it i got a 'deeper' resolution - around 1200 but i still have this bloody anoying 'ripple' effect when moving down a page...

NOTE WHQL just recommends I get a even older version of the NVIDIA driver.

If you haven't solved this problem.
This seems to be the driver you'd be looking for: nVidia 182.50 Drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_182.50_whql.html)

I have an 8500GT also and had the same problem this recently. This driver solved the problem for me, it's WHQL and dated 02 April 2009.

You may want to retry this - and switch the VGA out, then restart as well.
