I click on links and they keep sending me to the same webpage no matter what I do. Its happening in google when I do an image search, every time I click on the thumbnail, instead of opening the page with the bigger picture it redirects me to sign up for stuff. Its only certain searches too, for example if I look for "Strippers" "Lesbians" "Naked Whores" then it wll redirect me like 1/3 of the time to a site rather than to an image, but if I search for santa claus then it doesn't seem to do it.

Do I have one of those bugs from the mailware things? Which mailware sould I use? I'm rather bored at the moment if it wasn't already obvious.

Generally, for windows, you need to run HijackThis (by Trend Micro) and remove the thing that has attached itself to your browser.

Are you sure you didn't get it attacked on purpose just to give yourself something to fix?

joke - please don't hurl anything at me :D

I didn't think anyone would take me seriously. I thought it was common knowledge that porn sites redirect you to other porn sites 1/3 of the time but in an endless loop formed either accidentally or on purpose by porn vendors. The post was supposed to be a joke :o

Seriously, if I were you I'd PM KatKatKat and see if she could help you find an answer before this gets out of hand.

I wonder what that might redirect to

Yes, that's why I think this thread was redirected here from the "Jokes" thread. :|

:D
I started LOLin the first 2 lines I read lol.'

I didn't get that you were on a porn site getting popups - but just how n00bishly you were asking for help:dD:dD (knowing fully well your level of knowledge where computers are concerned). I suppose the folks who arent familiar / don't remember that you're an advanced user would start giving you the rundown on viral removal. Though.. I just find it hard to imagine MD coming on here.. GENUINELY asking for help like that rofl.

First thing I'd ask is - what're you doing in windoze :P

For a second though- I thought you may have actually had a problem - but was being all n00bish about it lol.

Anywho - nice to see u again.

Dont see you on MSN anymore??

I actually know very little about Windows and virus removal. I know a little bit about porn though
I ran Vista as my primary OS for about a week but I didn't like it. If I needed to run hijack this I might in fact get a second opinion about it here before following instructions from elsewhere since I've never dealt with it and the Windows registry seems really cryptic.
I rarely use Instant messengers.

EDIT: Best Avatar EVER, Rick!

I don't understand if you're still emotional about a stupid joke making it to the forum or if you're just trying to brag about your porn skills

I don't understand if you're still emotional about a stupid joke making it to the forum or if you're just trying to brag about your porn skills :confused:I'm indicating that your joke is lame as. That popping up porn thing hasn't been an issue since like the 90's.

Most browsers prevent sites from generating popups, and nowdays, many browsers prevent websites from redirecting you without your knowledge.

It was a stupid joke. Fueled no doubt by a lack of sleep and touch of self delusion.

:cry:Oh GOD I FEEL SO STUPID. WHAT WILL I DO???

Wait! I could just point out and emphasise the first half of the sentence in my last post, I guess. I feel so much better now. :)
That was a close one... I was almost insulted by Randoid :rolling:

I didn't say anything about popups, btw, tech boy.

Jezus - where have I been - you just seem to have all the good stuff man.
Give me a copy of that browser.... that stops sites from generating popups please.
We can remake it, sell it and make millions! ^_^
Its not FF or IE, or opera or maxton, so whats the name of this wonderful browser. Do tell! :)

popup protection is implemented in all mainstream browsers. Redirection prevention is built into FF3.

But, i guess they don't get the fancy software in jamaca. FFS.

Most browsers prevent sites from generating popups
Thats what jumped out at me lol.
Course, if you insist..

A pop up free browser would do me WELL.
Dont let it be as hoggy as FF3 though - thats why I dont use it.

I'That popping up porn thing hasn't been an issue since like the 90's.
ROFL.:dD oh my goodness.
You still got it my friend ;)

You still got it my friend ;)Still got that self delusional thing going on. And that inability to concede defeat.

Firefox is the lightest full service browser on the market. Chrome is full of security holes and has no services, and the others are too large. IE and Opera both have popup prevention.

What part of "most browsers prevent sites from generating popups" don't you understand? Are you unsure of the term popup? (its the ability of a site to generate additional windows, more so, an excessive amount of windows, generally called by the browser itself and not the users interaction) No-one would ever want a browser that got rid of a sites ability to spawn smaller windows. You'd have to turn the functionality off every time you encountered a website that had required functionality that was contained inside a spawned window.

ooh, and FTR, the bloated part of FireFox is associated with memory leaks in 3rd party extensions.

... everyone knows that.

WTF, ROFL. :D. excuse me? I didnt know we were in a dual man. lol. I suppose some things never change.
I'm not... 'competing' with you dude lol. Always so..... negative.

I get whats going on lol. Seeing that we're 'dueling'..
There you go adding your variable lol.- who said anything about "full service".
And while you're at it - go ahead and define "full service"
Tell me its "services" and differentiate that from FEATURES.
I said I use FF2 because its lighter than 3 Disprove me, and I will stand corrected.
Lets dual babeh! lol

What part of "most browsers prevent sites from generating popups" don't you understand?
My misunderstanding ANYTHING is an assumption friend. You made it sound definitive is what.
once again
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/prevent

Browsers stop some pop ups. And I'll reiterate in once again saying, that if you find one that will stop ALL unwanted popups please share it with me - and everyone else on here (they might like that too).
Course - we wont touch the intervention of viruses ;)

Are you unsure of the term popup? (its the ability of a site to generate additional windows, more so, an excessive amount of windows

WRONG - a popup is a popup. 1 2 3, all that changes is an s behind the word...
Wanna argue that? lol.
oh and - Grammatically, If it by definition it were "more so" an excessive amount - it couldn't be popup SINGULAR ;]

generally called by the browser itself and not the users interaction
Do you know that I consider you a web acquaintance?
A bit of friendly advice (seriously).
Try not to be misinformed when you're arguing.
There are 2 type of popups. Voluntary, and Involuntary. You're a bright chap so I know just by seeing those 2 words you can figure out what the 2 are.

No-one would ever want a browser that got rid of a sites ability to spawn smaller windows.
THAT WERENT LAUNCHED BY the clicking of AN HTML LINK? I think so.
As long as it was - thats NORMAL BROWSING - DUUH. lol.

If it wasn't launched by you clicking a link - thats a pop up. And your browser didn't know if it was relevant data or not ;)

ooh, and FTR, the bloated part of FireFox is associated with memory leaks in 3rd party extensions.
... everyone knows that.
Of which FF?
3?

I thought it was the lightest one out there.
So you disagree with me that its bloated at first (by your remarks which pointed to it being the lightest - common sense ;)) and then now you're referring to its bloatedness.

c'mon randy - I remember when I used to feel that I could sometimes appeal to rationality in you - and got a tad frustrated at my failure, but, my dueling mate lol, you were sharper back then ;]
