I am about to acquire an EF Fairmont auto with 170000kms. The engine is very smooth, runs well on the road and has plenty of power. However, when idling in drive there is a harsh vibration which disappears as soon as the car starts moving. The vibration does not occur in neutral or reverse. The car idles at 1100rpm. Is this too fast and could it be the cause of the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
