Anyone noticed the reputation category for a user? Wonder how this works?

Members gain reputation by other member's approval. Each approval will give the receipient a point. What everyone does not want is disapproval.:)

New members with very little post count are not eligible to influence other members reputation, they are not allowed to approval or disapproval.

Ok, here is the official words:

User Reputations are similar to what is known as Karma on many sites such as SlashDot. It is a way of rating users based on the quality of their posts. Users can opt to not have their reputation displayed, but they cannot opt to not be rated. The reason for this is quite simple: if a user posts something inflammatory, and had the ability to turn off rating of his posts, he could do so before posting, wait a few weeks, and turn it back on, and his reputation would be none the worse despite his subpar post. This way, if a user turns their display back on, their bad post would still count against them.

Currently the user rating is for information only - there is no mechanism to filter posts by reputation level. However, each user may keep an "ignore list", whereby posts by users on the list are not displayed to the user. The reputation could also be used as a basis for inclusion of the user in the Tachy Goes to Coventry list, which allows a "global" ignore list to be kept, where the posts of users on that list are only viewable to the user doing the posting, and no one else.

You can set various levels of reputation, both negative and positive, to be displayed when a user reaches (or falls below) set levels of points. Users become able to give other users points by performing certain tasks, such as having a certain number of posts or having a certain number of points themselves. Users can also be limited to giving a maximum number of reputation "hits" per day, and can be made to "hit" a certain number of different users before being allowed to hit the same user again. Administrators are exempt from most of these limits.

Move your mouse over to the green dot at lower left, it will show the remark for the members who has some reputation, or the lack of it. At the moment, no one has much of the reputation.:)

So far, I've gotten 1 red box, and 4 blank ones, what does that mean? My reputation when I move the mouse over: "a little shameless behaviour in the past"
How much good reputation do i need before i get back to "unknown quality" or before i get a green box (on my posts)

l`ve seen it there but never worried about it until now, and l`ve never voted for anyone...l`ll have to look in to it

just adding....just found where it says what was said...pity it doesn`t tell you by who so you can see if it`s the same person bagging you all the time, just to get your reputation down ( as if anyone would  ) and if you can see who voted disregard what l`ve just waffled on about and let me know how... :)

Yeah, that would be a good feature, then I can find out who gave me that red square, but thanks to another generous someone out there, my reputation has returned to normal! Thanks to that charitable person :)

Naturally I read this *after* I've spent 6 hours signing up fake users just to vote for me. It's so hard to be popular these days ;)

In your user_CP it says who left it...

I wish people would put why!!

Whoever did that for me, thank you :) Hehe, yes I do talk a bit much.
Anyways, I got my friend to sign up and add a bit of reputation, and that's why there are a few blank squares ;)

Doesn't tell me who left it in my User_CP - unless there's some special reputation section that I'm missing. I only see reputation in the general "User Control Panel" under "Latest Reputation Received". No names in there, just a post link, date and comment.
