Dear Traders.
This is the first time that I had an argument with anybody in EYO. This guy first wanted to buy 4 DVDs from my son's feature films collection, then he changed his mind for two. This took weeks and so accidentally I sent him a title that was suppose to go to somone else. I asked him to send it to the right person and I will compensate for the $2 postage. But now he is unhappy with the edition of one of his features and wants me to pay for the return postage of that too. I think I'm even nice to refund his money. Obviously, it's not about the $2 money, but when somebody buys a Region 1 DVD for $20 then that's how far you can go. Anyway here is the PM he sent me.

Hi.
I don't own any feature title films they all belong to my son. He thought that this Edition is the one you wanted. If you knew that there is a same edition with other features why didn't you draw his attention to it. All he did was check it on the net and it was identical to the one you wanted. You were changing your mind and delaying the whole transaction, that's why when my son asked me to post it I sent it to the wrong address. I tried to be nice and pay the money back. Post whatever you want. I made deals with hundreds of people already and they know who I am and how I keep my promises.

Best Regards.

I asked for your confirmation as to whether this DVD had commentary. You said yes so I bought it. You posted a DVD without commentary, so I fail to see how it is anybody else's fault but your own. The edition with commentary is the Miramax Collectors Series which this clearly isn't. A look at both editions on this page from Amazon.com shows that yours is not the collectors edition. On top of this, standard procedure is to pay for a DVD before it is shipped, which you have not yet done, and since you want me to post it first, I'm sure you will not object to a post on the forum questioning your honesty, as I do in fact fear that I may never see that $24. And it is $24 as far as I'm concerned. Postage to Mr Macabre was $2.50, return postage to you is $2.50, and none of them are my fault. Let me know if you plan to deposit the money, or I will post this situation on the forum asking for reccommendations regarding your honesty.
John.

Anyway, if anybody else has any problems with my dealings just reply to this thread and I will stop all my future ads.

Hate to have to do this, but hopefully it will be useful as a way of venting steam if nothing else.

I ordered Eye of the Beholder R1 and Good Will Hunting R1 from Janos Havas some time ago, having asked for confirmation that Good Will Hunting was the Miramax Collectors Series with a commentary track. Janos Havas confirmed that it was, yet when it arrived, it was not the agreed version. Upon asking for a refund, Janos Havas blamed me for him sending the wrong DVD, and therefore refused to refund the cost of return postage.

That's about the strength of it.

John.

I bought Nightbreed off Janos recently (he was very patient with me), and it was accidentally sent to john. John was then nice enough to then forward it onto me. I eventually received it in perfect condition and was very happy.

From my perspective both are trustworthy traders at this forum, but of course from time to time incidents occur. I honestly think that it was simply a case of human error if Janos stated that it had a commentary when it hadn't. I do not believe it was an intentional gyp on his part.

As someone who has sold on here quite often, and usually in big bunches, I know what it's like to try and arrange everything (payment and postage), and sometimes when you're emailed questions, you try to fire back a response and keep going.

As for the postage debate. To put it simply, Guys - It's AUD$2.50. If anything, consider it a donation to Australia Post. Since I appreciated John forwarding that DVD on to me, I am happy to Direct Deposit said money into his account as the disc arrived in perfect nic and was well packaged. As for return postage and the like, allow me to recommend the $1.19 Pre-Paid envelopes that are for sale at all good Australia Post outlets. They do the job perfectly. Just chuck in a folded piece of bubblewrap inside the case and that will guarantee the disc won't 'float'. A cheap and effective way to send.

In closing, this is just an unfortunate mishap between two trustworthy traders. I think you two have to have a bit more of a pow-wow in the Private Message/s or email, and come to some sort of mutual resolution.

Hi Guys.
I appreciate all you said but it's really not about the $2.50 anymore.
3 days ago, I was willing to accept Good Will Hunting back and pay back the money with the postage and the extra postage for MrMacabre. But then iamjohnsname still sent me an e-mail about that I should send the money first. So I said send back both titles and I refund all money all postage.
Of course he said he already gave away the other title as a present. I'm willing to give donations of even more than $2.50 to any cause but I can't accept that somebody is that inconsiderate. I already had a fight with my son about this "special edition" situation. You see both of them are miramax and he assumed the one we have is the collector's edition.
The moral of the story is that you can't always win everything. You gotta let it go sometimes.

Moral and window dressing aside, the fact is that you sent the wrong DVD and when considering refunding it, you were the one to set the non-negotiable terms and when I queried them, you were the one to refuse refund. All I have done is cop the raw end of the deal.

Just in case you are reading all of the above and wondering if you should do business with Janos the answer is a definite YES.

I bought a lot of DVDs from Janos some time ago and was perfectly happy with his service and honesty.

I agree with MrMacabre that Janos is a good trader

Hi,

I've just had a trade dealing with iamjohnsname and it all went perfectly.
There was a delay at my end but I did tell him about it, he was fine with it and even sent his item before I sent mine.

He has now received mine.

I would deal with this person again without hesitiation.

thanks

hate to bring up a touchy subject...

I've traded with both Janos and IamJohn. Both were excellent, and I would trade with both of them again without hesitation.
