Does anyone know what the difference between the R1 4 disc set and the R4 3 disc set is? I believe the movie is compacted on to 1 disc in the R4 transfer. Is that the only difference?

There's a very cool hidden feature on the second disc of the R1 that is a collection of shots of off camera antics from the cast and crew. The highlight is Affleck and Hartnett re-enacting the Affleck and Tyler 'animal crackers' scene from Armageddon.

I had the R1 4 Disc set bought for me as a gift and I have a huge problem with it on disc 1 when Kate Beckinsdale comes to visit Josh Hartnett in the hangar before they go flying at sunset. There's huge pixelation and the speakers let out a horrible, horrible noise. This happens on my Pioneer 525, a JVC of some sort, but not on a crappy cheap Hiteker or Teac...

That hidden feature I mentioned also stuffs up on the same players... When I first put it in my Hiteker it didn't stuff up but the player made this horrible noise like the disc was suddenly ground to a halt. I pulled the disc out and found a huge chunk missing from the bottom of the disc.

This made me very unhappy.

Has anyone else had problems like this? Is there any way to fix a big chunk missing?

Also, just got Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back R1 and disc is cracked almost all the way up the middle. Anything I can do about that?

Returning them is not an option on either account unfortunately...

Thanks,
John.

I've got a Hitekker AD700 and it does all I want it to do ! It's sure no way crap.

As for the cracked DVD, if it's only in the spindle contact area ( the centre ) try superglue, most of the stresses on the disk are rotational not vertical so it should hold well .

the dvd is cracked almost half way along the radius of the disc. it plays ok in the hiteker but not at all in the pioneer. also, when playing on the hiteker, after playing one title, it jumps to a random menu screen; not the one from which it just played if you follow what i mean. (it's disc 2 - the features disc so there's many different menu screens and lots of different titles on the disc).

unfortunately it's not a cheap disc either...

Difference between r1 & R4 of this movie is that the R1 has both DD & DTS track whereas the R4 only has DD. Hence the ability to fit the movie on one disc

You know, I watched the first 20 minutes of this movie and then deceided it was compleate trash... it's odd that's the first time I've ever actually stoped watching a movie (for the first time).
