Raised in an isolated wilderness her whole life, Nell is forced to face a new world of discovery , fear and people who want to strip her of her protected innocence. Her precarious journey into modern society is carefully monitored by doctor Jerome Lovell and Paula Olsen, a psychologist, who, like others around her, are moved by Nell's special untouched spirit and purity.

Audio/Visual….

NELL has Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio.
Speech is very clear, in sync and easy to follow, which is so important for a speech reliant movie like this.
Audio is well anchored to the screen and the well chosen score is spread nicely across the front sound stage which is never really intrusive in a movie that has so much talking.
Thankfully, it's not a movie that features car chases, gunshots and explosions so it's not begging for a 5.1 mix, but it would have been nice to experience some of the more ambient sounds hidden away in this movie.
Nothing much else to say here other than the quality of the 2.0 audio is of an acceptable standard.

Nell is shown in a 2.35:1 widescreen format.
Colours and flesh tones can look slightly dull a times, but I would say that they are more than acceptable and natural looking for the majority of the movie.
The scenery can be very beautiful at times and they've done a great job at capturing it without taking the focus away from the story.
The picture can look ever so slightly grainy at times, but mostly has a clear and smooth look to it and doesn't really suffer from any major marks or blemishes that distract.

Overall…..

Nell really is a wonderful movie and Jodie Foster gives yet another superb performance with her role this time as the "Wild Child", Nell. Liam Neeson also puts in a solid performance with his portrayal of the compassionate doctor who discovers Nell and then tries to learn her unique "Nellish" language while slowly introducing her to the outside world.
I won't reveal the ending, but I thought that the last section of the movie was the weaker part of this feature after such a strong beginning and build up, but you still feel satisfied after viewing the whole movie and I doubt it will disappoint.
The overall quality of this DVD is far from stunning, but is still very acceptable and is easily the best way to experience this wonderful movie.
The extra features are text based but are very informative and have a lot of information to offer.
Nell is very worthy of a rental and is easily a must buy for any Jodie Foster or Liam Neeson fan.
