It seems my FOX SAT STU received a firmware flash OTA. I'm getting better
sound and image quality, the colour scheme on the EPG has changed and their
seems to be slight differences to the information display box.
Anybody know of any other changes?

Signal setup has been butchered......home freqency only , you cannot stack
channels at all.

I think you will find you can,
you just disable signal source one which they have re-enabled:)

Disabling it results in error code E50 'no sources' and does'nt reinstate
any other signal setup options....

i too just downloaded the upgrade to firmware version 1 (it was previously
version 0.2), however my signal strength has gone from 89-90 (course) / 100
(fine) down to 72-73 (course) / 89-90 (fine).

i have noticed that the image quality isn't quite as good, ie a more
compressed/blocky image... would this be because of the degreading of the
signal
strength or just a placebo effect?

anyway to get the strength back up to where it was before the upgrade?

cheers,
brett

Hmm, be a bit awkward for Fox in the following scenario;

Country customer of Optus Aurora.
UEC 910 Aurora box
Aurora bouquet and FTA bouquet...
Doing a bit of home shopping on TVSN on the coming Friday, Sat or Sun......

I believe these boxes are capable of and will receive the firmware upgrade.
So what happens to them in the above scenario? If it screws thier box and
makes it useless, do they have recourse against Telstra and Foxtel?

Ok we've had 3 UEC Aurora boxes in now with the exact scenario as described
above, all with the new, legitimate, activated, Optus Aurora cards in them..
They can't even watch thier Optus Aurora bouquet anymore. These boxes are
owned by the user, and the users are querying what right another provider
have in stuffing up machines that do not belong to them, and essentially
locking them out of the services of Optus Aurora.

I'm really looking forward to next week, when country boxes from further
afield arrive in, and the phones have been going off the hook already :(
There must have been a poor choice of movies on GWN and WIN for these poor
pple to be tv shopping:)

so is the any way to re-instate the original signal setups to allow for
stacked frequencies or do you have change all the settings on the one only
home frquency each time you want to change bouquets ?

Well these people really need to be congratulated - so what do they use
their Foxtel STB for? a Doorstop...

I heard a rumour that it was out of foxtell and austars hands, that it was
an optus thing?

what is?

You shouldnt be using a Foxtel/Austar card in anything but the decoder that
you are issued with anyway - especially with the Optus Aurora units which
are a common unit with Foxtel. Your asking for trouble...

If you look in the subject line it has "Re:Firmware Upgrade"
Hope this helps

Excuse me?
A UEC Aurora box is readily available for purchase new for complete
ownership by the end user, ie they own the equipment, and an Optus Aurora
card is a valid, legal card for use in that type of machine........
TVSN is a FTA channel broadcast by Foxtel, that can be viewed while your
Aurora card is in the machine. In fact you don't need any card to view it.

So my original post is correct, and Optus Aurora customers have done nothing
wrong by viewing TVSN. However they have recieved the upgrade that they were
not wanting or entitled to, nor gave permission to be set on to thier own
machines.

Your kidding right? These people want to watch TVSN? I find that very

You don't get it. They have bought a UEC Aurora box, it is not Foxtels, they
live in the country where they can only get telly via satellite, and view
Win, GWN etc via an Optus Aurora card, which is legal and they have also
paid for...
Foxtel are the ones that need congratulating for the c#@kup, not these
innocents.
