Anyone know if the Labyrynth is on R4 or when it will be?

Dunno, but I like that movie. David Bowie played a good part... it's no
wonder he fancied himself as Elrond in LOTR (although Hugo was an excellent
choice, I have to say -- and probably the right one).

No, it isn't, and I don't know if it will be. You could get the R1, which
comes on its own or in a double pack with Dark Crystal.

I would have preferred Bowie. I hate Weaving in LOTR, really, he's one of
the weak links in my opinion. He's too much like Agent Smith... he just
talks like a wanker. Plus he's too bald and ugly to be an elf.
Bowie, on the other hand, is the coolest guy in the world, and way better
suited to being an elf. And would hopefully have given a slightly warmer and
more naturalistic performance.

Weaving (Elrond) is actually half-elven (half-man), which can probably
excuse the latter. Direct quotes from Tolkien's Fellowship of the Ring, as
to Elrond: "The face of Elrond was ageless, neither old nor young" and
"Venerable he seemed as a king crowned with many winters, and yet hale as a
tried warrior in the fullness of his strength". He's also a few thousand
years old - how would someone (esp a Lord) a few thousand years old talk?
Elrond was never meant to be a 'merry elf', even a 'merry half-elf'.
Saying all that though, I never found Weaving's Elrond a particularly
endearing character, or even likeable.

I don't think he's suposed to be likeable. I still prefer him to Bowie
because if it were Bowie I'd keep thinking of Labyrinth and that would
detract from my enjoyment because I doubt I could take him seriously.

One of my friends imported this version, and it is very good, definately
worth it, i wouldn't be hanging around for a R4 release.

I got the regular R1 for the nice docco. Superbit wouldn't make much
difference on my TV anyway.
