If you are a 70's rocker and lover of ballads you are just going to love the
multi-channel SACD + bonus DVD release of Elton John's - Goodbye Yellow
Brick Road 30th Anniversary Edition. Brilliantly remixed for multichannel
this album has been worth the wait.

All the classic songs like Funeral for a Friend / Loves Lies Bleeding,
Candle in the Wind, Bennie and the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Sweet
painted Lady, Harmony and Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting all seem to
have a completely new lease on life. Comparing this MC-SACD to the original
on CD and vinyl, the MC-SACD just blows you away. There has been no loss of
the original flavour of this album but you can expect to hear stuff you
never heard on the original CD version. The surround mixes are aggressive
but not gimmicky.

Included on the 2 SACD / CD set are 4 bonus tracks. The acoustic version of
Candle In the Wind is very intimate and simply stunning. Acoustic guitar
accompaniment (no piano or drums) and great harmonising vocals from the rear
channels bring the performance to a level that makes you feel it was
especially performed for you.

The 2 SACDs and DVD are presented in a double gatefold jacket complete with
26 page colour booklet. The audio discs are presented in 5.1 multichannel
SACD / 2 ch stereo SACD / CD hybrid format.

Bonus DVD : The Making of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Region 0
Dolby Digital 2.0
WS 16:9
NTSC
The video which runs for approximately 50 minutes gives the viewer a great
insight into the making of the album and includes footage from the Melbourne
concert with the MSO.

Recommended listening for Elton John fans.

Cheers,
Alan Rutlidge

Am waiting for this title. It's Aussie release is 8 December. Were you given
a preview, or did you manage to buy a copy? Of course CDWow doesn't have it
listed.

Can I ask if you purchased them online and where??

Thanks again, Alan.

I order them on-line. My usual supplier is Elusive Disc
http://www.elusivedisc.com
Prices are reasonable and I usually get my shipment via US Air Postal
Service in only a few days (eg. order on Friday, arrive on my doorstep my
midday Wednesday, and I'm in Perth). In most cases US Air Post beats DHL by
days and at half the cost, plus no duty or GST :)

Examples of prices of SACDs:

Elton John - GYBR + DVD US$34.99 (AU$50.00)
Elton John - GYBR (without DVD) US$29.99 (AU$42.84)
David Bowie - Reality US$16.99 (AU$25.70)
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home US$14.99 (AU$21.40)

I haven't had much of a chance to get a really good listen to the new Bowie
album. But what I did listen to is similar in style to Heathen. I actually
prefer his earlier work (Ziggy / Diamond Dogs / Let's Dance / Scary Monsters
etc).
Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars is available in MC-SACD / CD hybrid
disc. I haven't seen it locally (got mine OS) but I have seen Let's Dance
(2 ch stereo SACD / CD hybrid) on the shelves locally for under $30.00

Cheers,
Alan

Their email address for enquiries is: elusales@netdirect.net

Works as far as I know, though I've had no reason to use it of late as there
hasn't been anything to email them about.

I just sent off an enquiry to test the water and see if it bounces back. I
won't know until I get some response from the server if it has gone to
heaven.

I'll post back here tomorrow or sooner if there is a problem.

Cheers,
Alan

Yep, the problem seems to be with e-mail sent from .au domains / servers.
Could be also from other areas other than the US, but the guys at Elusive
Disc are looking into it. ATM, messages regarding the problems are being
relayed through a 3rd party in the US to them. Hopefully it will be sorted
soon. I'll keep you posted.

Alan
