Depends where you are.

Go to www.dba.org.au and you can find the info there as to what is in
each area.

ABC 7 9 10 SBS (same as analog) & SBS1 (mostly foreign news)

If you have a widescreen TV it is definitely worth the hassle.

The eMTech 1150 SD (standard definition) is good value. There's
several now selling for less than $300.

If your TV set is capable of HD (high definition) that might be the
go.

Hey - even if you have a big 4:3 aspect screen you'll probably never
regret it.

During the World Cup channel 7 had their different channel camera view
working and on several games we lucky digital viewers had the choice between
watching the same broadcast as the rest of Sydney with dead shit commentary
or a non commentary view with just the ref's call only and the roar of the
crowd. I plugged the digital audio into my digital surround sound amplifier
and it was just like being at the game. Unfortunately the second camera
view for the final had pommy commentary (what a waste). That is an example
of the extra channels available with a digital STB. Further I thought I had
a fairly good picture before digital, now it is great (about DVD quality).
For less than $300 for a SD box I think it is well worth the money. I hope
this assists with your decision to purchase one.
