Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get a little advice as to which camera to choose out of the following for picture quality, value for money and reliability.

The three cameras I have been looking at are:

Kodak CX6330
Kodak DX4330
Kodak 3900

All of these cameras are 3 megapixel cameras, so it is a bit difficult to choose which is the best.

Thanks.

Have you looked at anything else but Kodak ? If you really want to support
them you could always buy some of their shares. Take a deep breath again and
have a look at Sony, Nikon and Canon, Olyumpus...

http://www.dpreview.com/
http://www.steves-digicams.com/
http://www.dcresource.com/
http://www.pcphotoreview.com/defaultcrx.aspx

anyway, just my two cents, what ever you get, just make sure you have some
fun

Yes I have consulted some of the preview websites but many of the cameras seem to have the same specifications. Even so, I have just this morning been quoted $319 for the Kodak CX6330 so I am thinking I might go for this camera, here is its specs:

3.1 megapixel CCD for prints up to 11 x 14"
3X Kodak zoom 37 - 111 mm (35mm equivalent)
3.3X Advanced Digital Zoom
Multi-zone auto-focus
TTL Multi-pattern matrix metering
Color modes for black and white, sepia, color
Exposure modes: Auto, sport, night, landscape, close-up
Burst mode captures up to 4 pictures at 3 fps
320x240 movies w/sound up to 80 minutes in length
1.6 in. TFT color LCD, indoor/outdoor type
16MB internal memory, SD/MMC card slot
Powered by 2 AA size lithium, NiMH or CRV3 lithium
Audio-Video Out (NTSC or PAL selectable)

I'm not really an experienced digital camera buyer, so it would be helpful if someone could tell me whether this is a good price and a good quality camera?

Thanks for all the replies thus far,

Cheers.

Are you able to give me an idea of what is a good quality camera for around the 350 - 400 dollar mark?

I'm having a few difficulties finding other good ones, and the Kodak one is already 50 dollars off the rec. retail price due to purchasing from a kodak factory shop.

Thanks.

for around three hundred its ok, if you steal batts from work and you can
live with the built in memory, then its a steal...

Well I'm actually only in my teens still at school so unable to really steal from work, lol.

But anyway, would you think this camera is a good buy for someone who is a fairly inexperienced photographer just wanting to take some good snaps at AFL games and the like?

Thanks for your help.

then nope, made this mistake twice before (bought digital camera's) that
wenrt up to the job and lost money upgrading. 3*optical is good for shots
of the family and car, AFL at that distance its a waste of your time.

the s3000 should be your first camera and l just say save and get after xmas
when the AU$ goes still higher and you have more money, budget maybe $500
you wont regret it.

but for happy smaps of mates and stationary objects with maybe 5m then its a
good buy.

I assume you are referring to the Fujifilm S3000 or am I completely on the wrong track?

There is actually currently one of these on sale on ebay, current price is at $205.00aus dollars with around 18 hours left.

What do you think?

Thanks for the help,
Cheers.

Yes he is referring to the Fuji s3000. Not a bad camera, and if you can pick it up for $205, yahoo, but beware buying cheap digital cameras second hand. I definitely agree with Stephen Hardy about scraping together a few extra dollars - could definitely be worth your while. Perhaps even a Sony camera around the same price range as the Fuji - their 'smart zoom' digital zoom isn't that bad. Maybe Mum and Dad could add to your digital camera cash stockpile as a Xmas present? However, whatever you do, I would thoroughly recommend you stay away from Kodak. The 6000 series is just as bad as the 4000 series - cheap cameras, cheap quality, many saddened hours waiting for the camera after it's been sent away for warranty repair... again and again and again... check out all the 'happy customers' at [URL=http://www.ihatekodak.com] .You may have to forfeit the big zoom you're chasing for the AFL and instead settle for a standard optical zoom and good quality camera - Canon/Nikon/Olympus. The Olympus C350 is good value. Anyway - good luck with the digihunting.

you can buy retail for $500 (or $550) less if you can get the GST back at
the airport or someone can do it for you.... but yes, well worth it, ebay
will go for more than that but dont pay over $400AU on ebay inc delv as you
get stuck with GST if its an import and its over $500, besides you can buy
it retial for that much.
