View Full Version : Foxtel menu system
Since foxtel appears to have updated it's menu system so that you can now hear shows even when you're flicking through the channel menu, and access show info and shows faster, it would seem that moving through the channel listing has become 10x slower. Does anyone else notice this when scrolling through the channel list? the menu bar just lags through the list like nothing else, it's pathetic, much worse than it ever was. Also I asked foxtel today if they'll be broadcasting free to air with their new digital setup and was told that they would be doing that from March 2004, though it was a pretty uncertain sounding answer from the help desk chick. I smuggly asked how much foxtel would be charging for free to air TV.

If anything, I have seen an overall increase in speed.
I must say, the addition of being able to hear shows while browsing the
TVGuide has made searching the guide rather irritating.

Yes, it is giving me the shits, moving through the channel listing. Very
unresponsive.

Wrong again,, They do the job there designed to do, nothing more , nothing
less, and they suit the "bean counters" for price.
And after all, YOU don't own the thing, you mearly hire it, Don't like
it, Don't subscribe. Or are you locked into a contract.. Sounds about
right.

You are clearly on some self-rightous rampage...I can tell you now that you are barking up the wrong tree.
Your arguement is completely irrelivent to the conversation I'm having about the sat recievers being slow. I AM right because I have tested the things, they don't respond as quickly than the other boxes do to the given remotes.
Wether they suit the "bean counters" or not has nothing to do with what I am saying nor does ownership of the unit. They do the job, sure and they are slow.... there is not one point in your argument that relates or even addresses any point in mine.
do us a favour and go play in traffic.

Fark, you BOTH need to start using a spell-checker.

you must have forgotten how shit those foxtel sat recievers were then. go grab one and bone up again. And no, I could give a crap about who bought them and who made them....irrelivent. They are slow to respond - that is all.

I suspect it's more the box you're using more than anything. I originally had the standard UEC DSN-720 box (used to be analogue boxes but tampered with by Foxtel to work on digital) which was very slow (despite having specifically requested the 5.1 dolby capable box and would be told I would get it at no cost due to order stuffups on Foxtel's behalf, suprise suprise), then when I got the Pace DS-420NF box with 5.1 dolby after much stuffing around with Foxtel, it was much much faster, excellent response times, can't see any lag anywhere except for when I use something like Sky News Active. Now that i've upgraded to iQ (Pace DS-460NF) and put the DS-420NF on the second outlet to get rid of the other UEC box, I find the iQ box to be just ever so slightly slower, but still much much faster than the UEC box.

yeah, it was just the sat box...the others seemed fine
