How come I haven't been able to get through to Foxtel on the 131999 number
for two days now?
I am just a little pissed off? Is there an email address?

No, I looked for an email addy and it says to phone them. I too am pissed
off at their lack of customer service ATM.

I had the same problem. Here is how I solved the problem.
Ring 131999.
Do not input your telephone number when prompted.
Hold on until a voice gives you other options.
Hit number for option asking you whether you wish to become a Foxtel
subscriber.
This (for obvious reasons) gets you through to a real live person who will
then put you through to a customer service (live) person and that person
will walk you through the re-activation/setup process.
Good luck.
PS Don't forget to ask for a refund of subscription fees:-)

I got through (after a day trying) and gave them the number on the back of
my smart card and apparently my service was to be turned on 45 minutes
later. That was 2pm today and I'm still waiting. Of course they told me to
ring 131999 to if I was still having problems but that number claims there
is technical difficulties as you say, so I've got no way of getting this
sorted out. It's absoutely pathetic.

Andrew I had the same problem.

Its because your box missed the updates.

When you do finally get through they will walk you through changing the
fequency and symbol rate on the box. Then they will push a firmware upgrade
out to your box.

You can do it yourself:

Press Menu
Advanced options
Change dish installation
9949
Signal setup
1 (home)

This should read as follows:
Signal source = enabled
LNB selection = 1
Freq = 12478 (if this doesn't work try 12558)
Symb rate 27800
Pol = Horizontal
FEC = 3/4

If not change using the arrow buttons or number keypad on foxtel
remote. Press OK once the settings have been added. Then press exit
once. Then select Tune & Re-scan and press OK. If an E16 appears after
the Tune & Re-scan, initialize the Smart Card.

Though you should still get the firmware update.

Foxtel fucked some of their own boxes with their upgrades - they even admit

Guys can you please help. I think I'm having the problem your talking about (I dont know much about it)

I had a goldie and on Monday I was only getting 1 channel saying I had to upgrade my foxtel software.
I only got that red card last week in the mail and when I activated it this week, nothing happened. I still only get that one channel saying I need to upgrade my software. What do I need to do?

I should know, i've been subscribed for 3 years with never a problem and
late last week the whole lot
went to shit, signal searching all the time, long delays changing channel -
up to 5 min to bring up channels or the channels won't come on at all, have
rung Foxtel 5 times and been through every conceiveable setting possible
including pulling the
mains plug out for 10 mins, now a tech has been organised to come and fix
it, so hopefully i'll get a reduction in my
subscription due to reception difficulty through no fault of my own....

ive been trying to get through all day so that I can confirm my
installation date. Spent 30 minutes on hold, gave up. Spent 45 minutes
on hold, gave up.

Nice to see Foxtel are buddies with Tel$tra in other ways too ;)

Your Lucky my reception problems started Thu 27th Nov and they can't get a
tech to visit me
to fix the problem until the 17th of Dec and that was after 5 phone calls to
tech support @ over 30 mins each
and at least the first 25 mins i was on hold listening to the same ads over
and over telling me to 'get it on'
I am in the second biggest city outside Perth.

Unfortunately, being in a country town (second Largest population outside
Perth Metro) -
the Foxtel tech's are actually local antenna installers/contractors, so any
foxtel installs, service and repairs has to
fit into their regular schedules.
Foxtel advised they'll credit my account for the duration of my reception
difficulties, which will be nearly 3 weeks
although i won't be able to verify this until i get my statement later on.
