My brother has a Sigma 600 Mirror for his Pentax and it is great. The only
problem is the fixed aperture, the only way to cut down on the light coming
through is with the use of filters.

Yep.. my advice... don't buy one... they are truly CRAP... I've owned
two... and sold both within a month of getting them (well they were cheap).
My advice... buy a second hand 75-300 and a 2x converter... even though
you'll loose a stop at the long end you'll get better pictures, better
DOF, autofocus (on some eos cameras) and at least you can use the lens
for many other shots as well.
The sigma is so hard to get focus right that I had trouble getting shots
of fast moving objects like the the moon ;-)

Someone has posted a comparison between a Mirror lens, and 70-200/2.8 with
2x over in rec.photo.digital. I haven't had a squizz at the images yet,
though the OP and followups all indicate through sever sarcasm, that the
lens+TC is far better.
