Sorry to post this OT subject but I thought others might find it
amusing :-)
Go to www.google.com.au,
type 'miserable failure', then click on the 'I'm Feeling Lucky'
button.

I don't get a "I'm Feeling Lucky" button.. but I DO get lots of links to
George Bush, ROFL
LOL.
9 of the first 10 hits on the .au site are for POTUS, and I only say 9 and not 10 as the 4th site is down ;)
I have to ask whataboutme...what were you looking for?

I have received this as a forward from three different people, and I
also noticed it here:

And now I see it on here... It's almost like a virus. ;)

Strangely enough, when I select "pages from Australia" I get an
article about the Democrats (US variety).

We love television because television brings us a world in which
television does not exist. In fact, deep in their hearts, this is what
the spuds crave most: a rich, new, participatory life.

redirects to whitehouse.gov ... must be done by the google web gurus, as
there is no intermediate page! Other 'I'm feeling lucky' pages are just the
top ranking pages, and sometimes they have redirect scripts to go elsewhere,
but you see the redirection...

If you search Google News (http://news.google.com) for the same words
youwill find several news articles that describe how easy it is to
'google bomb' a particular phrase or group of words. It has nothing to
do with any google employees, it simply demonstrates how google can be
manipulated.

"I'm feeling lucky" goes to the very first match that appears, always.
The reason it shows what it does is because Mr. Bush has been "Google
bombed".

hehe very funny, cheers.
While on the Google topic, does anyone else have this problem with google -
with heaps of my search results, when I right-click and 'open in new window'
it loads up "UmaxSearch.com" or something like that, and not what the link
is supposed to be. But if I copy and paste the link from google, that page
that is supposed to load up (ie NOT UmaxSearch), will load up no problems at
all. How to I stop this UmaxSearch - it's damn annoying - and never finds
anything. cheers.

It's spyware. Time to run adaware and rid your PC of it.

Thanks Cronos. Geez! Adaware found heaps of spyware crap. hehehe
I'd never heard of the term 'spyware' before.
I do know of viruses & trojans etc tho.
How does this stuff get on your PC? I saw all the cookies, but what about
stuff in the registry like Cydoor? A search I did seemed to have cydoor
somehow connected with Kazaa, is this right? I do use Kazaa (being very
careful with what I download).
Thanks again, much appreciated.

You need to start reading those user agreements when you install software
downloaded from the net. They'll usually let you know somewhere in there.
If you go to a website that tells you that you need to install some
fantastic browser enhancement to experience the site, that's another
source.
I don't use Kazaa myself, but I've heard that has it's own Spyware
associated with it. Kazaa Lite though, I've heard doesn't. Might want to
research this a little further.

I say if they've got itsy-bitsy feet or some kind of foot disease, I don't
wanna know 'em.

I've never used Kazza much preferring IRC but Cronos couldn't be more right. The May 2003 edition of PC World had an
"ESSENTIAL KaZaA Toolkit" on the cover discs. I still have them if you can't be bothered downloading the programs
yourself. Check out the PC World website to see what you need.

Adaware is good, but free version is crippled. Go Spybot for full version
features, free. www.spybot.de

Yeah, I removed some files with adaware, and Kazaa stopped working, so I
installed a newer version of Kazaa, and scanned again and more came up than
before (the latest Kazaa has more extra programs (or extra crap) installed
with it than the older one I was using)
