Question about mini surround speakers

A while ago I bought a sony 5.1 reciever/speaker system, htdd-w840 i think, and ive noticed that while its very low, you can hear a tsssssss sound coming from the speakers when they are on but not playing. And when you are watching movies it gets louder, and is quite noticable in quiet scenes.

Is this what happens to mini speakers after a time?

no it shouldn't. I'd say it could be a shortcoming of the amp/receiver, older yamaha av receivers were known to do this too.

well ive also noticed my reciever makes a loudish buzzing kind of sound, and it used to be completely quiet. So you saying my reciever has gotten bad but my speakers are ok? can it be fixed?
