That's correct, just the extracted bank30.rom file, no multisession, iso9660 and finalise the disc.

Awesome.... I'm very happy with this player now... One thing I noticed though is the b.mark button doesn't do anything. I'm assuming it is for setting a bookmark during a movie as with my other dvd player but it doesn't actually work... unless it is meant for something else?? Anyone else noticed that??

I agree, sorting out the widescreen / zoom function is high on my wish list.

yup fixes the problem Thanks jokin and give our thanks to the factory as well.
It is now a good player......if they can do the rest (zoom etc) when they can it will become a GREAT player for the price.
If they could also sort out the test tone for 5:1 it would help make sure you set the speakers up right and that the amp you are using works...

Thanks :dD

improvements that i have find in new firmware 1.1

- it is possible to turn off the OSD while watchign mpeg-4 files
- i havent got any freeze up when pressed stop or eject while watching mpeg-4 files
- random shuffle for mp3 now works
- in SMART NAVI menu if you select file and press OSD button it will display much more information about mpeg-4 files and mp3 files (such as audio/video codec, how many channels, length and size of file)
- while watching *avi files in zoom mode u can possition the picture as you like
Meaning that whit up,down, right, left buttons u can move the picture on the screen. I have notice that when u press zoom the picture is not centered correctly - now u can fix it :)
-while watching mpeg-4 files u can press right, left button, this will forward/backward movie by 10 seconds (this works for mp3 files as well but only backwards)

That is all so far i have discovered

This player is starting to look very good now.

Now if in next release we can have that ZOOM fixed and support for subtitles for avi files it will be great.

Subtitles should be implemented by pressing the SUBTITLE button, which will take you to the SMART NAVI menu where you can pick your subtitle file.

And yeah support for long names and mp3 ID Tags will be very nice as well :)

The new firmware can be obtained from ftp.jokiin.com

I would also like to get a copy of the firmware. I cant find a link to it at your website. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I didn't put a link, just type ftp.jokiin.com in the address bar of your browser, remember ftp instead of www and you will find it's the only file in there.

Did anyone have the same problems as me with the b.mark feature not working?

I'm not so sure about the bookmark function, there's no mention of it's function in the manual, I think it might be more to do with the fact that this remote suits other players in their range also. Similar also is the Karaoke option in the menu, yet the player doesn't have it, more of a carry over from other models based on the same components.

Next time you talk to them say a BIG thanks from OZ

Can you ask them about the zoom, extended iD display (mp3,mpeg etc.) These are just on the wish list.
I cant see any other "BUGS".

Big thanks

Successfully upgraded the firmware on my machine, OSD issues resolved and zoom functions are better as posted previously. The upgrade is a simple procedure, I had no problems. I have also noticed better performance when loading avi files - before the upgrade some of my discs took up to four or five attempts to load, or I would disconnect the machine from the wall, power on again to get the disc to load.

My thanks to jok11n and andw for their efforts and everybody else involved.

I feel there is probably still room for more improvement with the firmware, still some bugs to be sorted, however I am happy with my machine. Any future improvements would be a bonus. Will stay posted for future upgrades.

i haven't flashed mine yet (it's wrapped up) but has the flash fixed the equaliser / visualisation in mp3 mode by any chance??

Cheers, Pythonisman

Ok, I've tried .srt subtitle files, not working at the moment.
Interestingly, they get listed on the file list, with a '?' in a balloon.
It even tells you size of file etc.
I would be happy at the moment if it just used .srt files with the same name as the .avi file. Switch on / off with the subtitle button. (Although I do realize that some people want to load different subtitle files for different languages.)
I hadn't noticed that you could move the picture around in zoom (this was a function that worked on my XMS-150 when you did a zoom with DVD's), so thanks for that.
Still only a 2x zoom on .avi files, would like to see better zooming on all video file formats. on my tv, doing a 2x zoom means that you lose a lot of picture on all sides.
(even a 640x352 file (16:9 format) means that the top & bottom black bars and a large amount of the picture goes off the screen).
Also thanks for the info regarding using the < and > keys to skip back and forward approx 10 seconds. That is really helpful when you have those situations when you go "what did he just say?".
Be good if the firmware upgrade disc was ejected before it powers off the unit after it's finished the flash. That way you could take out the disc before powering it back on again. (stop that frantic few seconds between switching it back on and pressing eject, before it starts flashing again)
Also be good if they would put the firmware version in the hidden menu. (or even on the main setup screen would be good)
I noticed that when doing the surround sound test it displays on the screen which speaker it should be outputing to. This is a good thing. (anybody notice it on the old firmware, I don't remember it being there before, but I must admit I was concentrating on the speakers, not the screen)
Fantastic improvements so far, and fairly fast response time from the guys in China.
Thanks to them and jok11n for getting on to it so quickly.

No change on the equalizer / visualisation as yet.
I would prefer long filename support before they worried about that though.

Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be very little difference in volume change between '8' and '16', when using the volume control on the remote control?

Pythonisman

there was difference, for me, but it didn't really carry through for a few seconds. i'll just use the volume on the TV / Amp anyway, as it's better :)
