I watched Sin City I didn't think much of it at all, I was very disappointed because of all of the raves about it.

Just watched the new Doctor Who Christmas special "Christmas Invasion" and it was, in a word, FANTASTIC :D

I am so hyped for the next season now!! Tennant is definitely every bit as 'Doctor' as Eccles was :)
I'll be watching it in an hour or so. :D
After watching the short 'childrens special', I laid any concerns with any doctor living up to Eccles to rest. It does look to be another great season. :)

I had a mate say exactly the same thing, but it's right up there on my favorite movies list.
The cinemotography is top notch, and you won't find a better comic to film conversion. Having a great collection of storys to begin with helped no end of course. :)

Yeah that's why I judge a movie for myself even if it has bad raves about it, if it looks like a movie I'll watch it and decide then. And unfortunatly Sin City was one I had heard so much about, but that's why I hire a lot not such a waste of money as going to the movies and hating it. :)

Just watched Taking Lives staring Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke. Didn't really get into the movie at all. Not exactly sure why. It was, perhaps, a little slow for my liking.

On the up side, you do get to see Angelina's boobs.:) :PI

Have to agree with that one.For me this is actually a comic book adaptation that has not only stayed true to the original material but captured the entire essence of a comic and put it up on screen. Most of the others are more or less Hollywood gathering a bunch of A list actors together to cash in on a franchise.Bloody awesome achiement in cinema and the best film of 2005 for mine.

It was b grade all the way for me tonight in the form of Creep,a british horror starring Franka Potente. It would be fair to say this is not the highlight of Franka's career but it's not trying to be anything more than a gritty late night special. It pretty much hits all those targets with some suitabley gruesome scenes. All without a snot nose American brat in sight to.Yay for that!

Just Watched Land of the Dead. I think the zombie genre has been well and truly used up. I didn't exactly find it boring, but I just felt I'd seen it all before. And most movies like this have a good twist at the end, this didn't, it was a rather crappy ending. Also, the main zombie looked the least like a zombie out of all of them, it's like they ran out of make up or something...
Although I did enjoy the 'Shaun Meets George' special feature, where the guys from Shaun of the Dead got made up as zombies for this film.

Haha, there's a shocker.
That's two of the things I love about Jolie, she's become a big star, but never afaid to return to what made her so. :D

Dont miss The Descent (2005), a well made horror flick from UK, with tension from beginning to the end. It's rated 7.4/10 on IMDB. I just watched the first half last night in my small dark room, alone. And I have to say it is scary~~~. Strongly recommend to all horror/thriller movie fans...

Yes, bloody good episode and it's going to be a long wait until the new season in March. Torchwood was interesting and that Xmas tree was a bit of a p!sser.
What about those previews for the next season. Seeing Sarah Jane Smith, K-9 and The Cybermen will be highlights.

The rumor is that Romero will be making a sequel to Land of the Dead.

I'll join in the chorus on this one. Loved it and couldn't fault it. One for the DVD collection, I'd say. It wrote its own rules and defied convention. And yes, the cinematography had me salivating - or was that Jessica Alba? ;)

your excused on both counts. :p

Well, I've watched the christmas episode of Dr who (just didn't have the energy to concentrate last night), and have to agree with all you said Watcher, it's going to be a long and almost painful wait for the new series.

Roses proclomation had me laughing, just stringing all that she could remember into one sentence. :p

Did you notice all the things in the closet?

According to one of the Dr Who forums there were:
McCoy's hat on an umbrella
Davison's hat, possibly on cricket bat
Davison's mirror from "Castrovalva"
Turlough's (or Romana's) boater
Tom's hat and 2 different scarves
A Harry Potter "Gryffindor" scarf
Tennant's Casanova costume
Colin's coat
Steven's jersey
A Castellan's cloak (possible) or a Time Lord outfit
Troughton's trousers
Troughton's and McCoy's ties
one of Pertwee's cloaks
Tegan's furry coat from 5 Docs
"A Sontaran helmet" (disputed - mistaken armour-suit or /pith helmet)
Two Mr Benn costumes (the jungle adventurer, the knight's costume to name
but two)

Just watched The Skeleton Key. It's not so much a horror movie as I thought, more of a thriller. I loved it, great movie - very tense, and great twist.

i watched Friday the 13th (got the 8 disc box set for xmas :) )

Considering its age, (and I dont think i've ever seen it before) it actually wasn't too bad.

loved the bit at the end when the chick was in the boat, my neighbour who was watching it with me just about went thru the ****ing roof LOL

Yeah, I found this to be a great film too.
I too expected it to be more for a horror (ie. open the door to a room and ghost pour out, Haunted homestead, something along those lines). The trailer I saw a while ago wasn't really descriptive.
I clued onto half of the twist about half way, but the complete twist remained a mystery to me right till the end. I love when movies can hide it well. :)
Hudson's a great actress too, as long as she steers clear of the chick flicks.

I'm glad it was someone else that did get a fright besides me whizz :dD When I watched it I screamed and grabbed the guy I was watching it with, he just laughed because he'd seen it before and I hadn't.

The hand print left on him has almost gone now :D but I must admit movies like that is a great way to get big hugs. ;)

Last night my brother finally convinced me to sit and watch Kill Bill Vol 1, which we borrowed from our Dad on Christmas, and I have to say, even though I was mighty apprehensive, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The blood was so over the top though, I was laughing through most of the movie. It's good how most of the gory scenes, like fighting the crazy 88, were in black and white, it made it a lot less gory.

And I liked it so much, that we sat down and watched the second movie too.

Okay ending, but I liked how the whole thing was divided into chapters and that the story just continued on from one movie to the other, but kept flicking back and forth.
