Christian Bale was awesome in Equilibrium
Oh, hell yeah! :)

He was, but the movie itself could have done so much more, still good though.Yeah, sort of a Fahrenheit 451 plot that didn't develop beyond a utopian "one guy overthrows evil regime" storyline, but by God the two-gun martial-art they developed for the film was completely awesome.

Saw The Machinist over the weekend - interesting. Not a mind-teaser so much, but more of a study into a descent into a madness born from overwhelming guilt - love the Dostoyevsky references, as he practically mirrored the process the main character endured in "Crime and Punishment", right up to turning himself in at the end.

While I thought the plot was a little too simplistic at first, the style of the film and some of the Lynch-like scenes (the "Road to Hell" fun-park ride scene in particular) really stayed with me and the whole atmosphere of a corrupted, untrustworthy reality was very compelling. Had my nerves on edge all the next day :D .

OK, I saw Uwe Boll's Alone In The Dark. The movie sucks. It is actually worse than Doom - At least Doom had The Rock, who is guaranteed to be sorta funny. Alone In The Dark had a lot of bad acting in it. Christian Slater cannot save the movie.
Imagine a porno-horror movie with flimsy storyline - Only Alone In The Dark has no nudity, just horror-action sequences (as in a monster movie, but this is a really crappy one where I'm not even scared). A scary movie that isn't scary. That sucks!!
Some parts of the movie, particularly the fight scene at the start, is like a fight scene in Witchblade (a TV series).

I wonder if The Crow: Wicked Prayer would be a little better than this. My expectations are not very high. :D

The movie Alone In The Dark has nothing to do with any of the 4 games, as it is based on an entirely original script. Maybe one day someone else should remake Alone In The Dark and actually keep the original plot of the first game, as well as keep the original Lovecraftian-inspired creatures from the first game instead of redesigning completely new creatures that have nothing to do with the game.

Anything after the original crow is fecal seepage.
Just saw Michael Madsens latest, "Ghost Chaser" was ok just a tad slow at some bits. Man has he aged!

2 films, Stay Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts. Fairly average psychological thriller, Ryan Gossling was pretty good, not a film I would watch again.

A Sound of Thunder a film that either had a very small theatrical run in Australia or went straight to Video(bombed in the US this film and had alot of bad reviews).
I actually enjoyed it.... some of the special effects were laughable, whilst edward burns once again proves how much of a wooden actor he is(def miscast in this film). A sound of thunder was the better of the 2 films I hired out.

Just saw Ice Age 2. Loved it, but then I'm biased towards all those computer generated animation movies. Lots of laughs to be had with some familiar characters from the original and a few extra's. I'd give it a 5/5 and will certainly be adding it to my DVD collection.

Just saw Zathura (I'm trying to get all the kids movies in before the school holidays :p). Done by the people who made Jumanji with the game involving space this time. I loved a lot of the special effects and enjoyed 80% of the movie but there were a few "huh?" moments. I guess I can't expect too much from a kids movie but I think Jumanji was far superior. Shoddy acting by the main kid actor but otherwise not a bad job. I'd give it a 3.75/5.

A Sound Of Thunder - new release

The special effects/cgi were shoddy in some scenes, but the storyline was quite interesting.

Watched the new DUNGEONS & DRAGONS movie, "The Elemental Might" last night.

Quite enjoyed it - vastly superior (and truer to D & D rules) when compared with the first movie.

And I hope to see more of the actress who played the warrior Lux, she was drop-dead gorgeous :D

I watched The Crow: Wicked Prayer and thought that it was an OK movie to rent. The story, supposedly "inspired" from a book, is OK. The problem with the movie is bad acting and miscasting of actors, which lead to a low grade film. Hopefully, the next installment of The Crow movies will be better and more original with a female Crow in the role instead, but it is unlikely to be good because of the low budget of these films - i.e. it won't attract an oscar winning actress like Angelina Jolie.

I watched House of the Dead today.

Man this was bad and thoroughly deserves its place in imdb's bottom 100.

I watched House of the Dead today.

Why? Oh, and the director went on to make Alone In The Dark in much the same vein of things.
