I saw Kenny at the movies last night. It was hilarious. Right from the start it had the audience in fits of laughter and sustained the pace throughout. It's a mock documentary that follows Kenny, a port-a-loo technician, around in his daily work and home life dealings. He's a lovable character who you form an instant liking to and some of the things that come out of his mouth will have you in hysterics. This is set to become an Australian Cult Classic. Better than The Castle! 5/5.

I heard that throughout the movie, Kenny's always taking the piss.;) :D

I reckon that movie has so many plot holes:

eg He only went to that apartment to kill Leo Crowe because of the prevision.
If there was no prevision he wouldn't have even been there.

Though as you said the film is very interesting. A good sci-fi action movie!

Just watched an episode of an MTV show called Trick It Out and it was pretty good.
Two teams of guys from shops that customize cars are given identical cars and have 2 weeks and $15,000 to trick them out any way they wish. The winning team then gets to keep both cars and moves on to a final.
It's on MTV if anyone is interested and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it.

D.O.A. was ok. Nothing special. Mind you, i aint such a big fan of anime...

Why would anime have anything to do with D.O.A?
Thought he was talking about Dead Or Alive (the new video game to film adaption)

Just watched the David Cronenberg film "Crash". Typical Cronenberg. The characters were ****ed up, the plot was boring, yet interesting, yet intriguing, yet annoying at the same time. Like a motor accident. You don't want to look but you have to. Which as this is largely what the film is about 2 thumbs up for this direction!

Would I buy it. No. Would I watch it again, maybe in 2015 I'll give it another running. 5.5 / 10.

Brick, very cool film this one, some nice twists, the way characters talked to each other was quite unique!

Running Scared, easily Paul Walker's best effort so far, evern more twists & turns all the way till the end.

Watched Silent Hill last night. It was pretty creepy, and visually it's one of the best movies I've seen for a while. I was kinda confused about the ending, but I've never played the games so maybe that's aiding in my confusion.

I think that's the idea of the movie, since apparently the games also leave questions unanswered, although I haven't played any of them.

Playing the games have you wondering 'what the hell is going on with this town' (apart from #4, in which case it was 'What the **** is going on with this room??'), the movie captured this feeling pretty well.
To this day, Silent Hill 1 on the PSone is still the best survival horror game I've played.

The cinematography to capture Silent Hill just as it is in the games deserves an oscar, even if the movie itself is nothing special and the music was also spot on. Was great to see a lot of the creatures from the game in a real light.

So in my opinion, all the pieces were in place, it's just disheartening that the storyline they created was a little on the weak side. :(
Still have to be one of the best video-to-movie conversions though, and no surprises, Boll played no part in it. :D

Last night I watched the season finale of Blade: The Series. Quite awesome, very tense the whole way through, and leaves a lot of things open for a second season.

On hearing rave reviews both on here and from friends I've started watching Firefly. I just watched episode 4 and am liking it very much. :)

Yeah, Blade: The Series was, surprisingly, quite good. Though after the first few episodes it really should have been renamed "People who have met Blade: The Series". :dD

SpikeTV seems to have more money than sense a lot of the time, so hopefully they'll throw a renewal its way without looking TOO closely at the ratings figures. :)

After having it recomended from numerous friends, I finally watched The World's fastest Indian.
I highly recommend this movie (apart from Anthony Hopkins' NZ accent ;) ), enjoyable even if you are not into motorbikes or the history surrounding it.

Well I just returned from the US so I saw a stack of movies on the flight over and back, and a few in the hotel. These are my opinions:

Mission Impossible III. *yawn*... well that's not really fair. The plot line was okay, the visuals were pretty good, and would have been much better on a big screen with surround sound, but it's hard to get past Tom Cruise who has been such a tosser in recent times. Someone else as the lead and it might have been a good movie. I swear if he does MI-IV I'm not going to watch it... nahh I probably will, but it will be junk all the same.

V for Vendetta. Total crapola. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the genre of comic book movies... Hell Boy, The Punisher, Spiderman, X-Men, all pretty good, and I loved The Crow, but V was just a waste of 2 hours. A completely aimless story line (even calling it that is generous) interspersed with a couple of very ho hum action sequences. Do yourself a favour, avoid this one.

Basic Instinct II. Suddenly V for Vendetta looked pretty good. I quite liked the first Basic Instinct - good acting, interesting plot twists, tension and drams, hot sex and gratuitous nudity... what's not to like? But with BA-II it all went out the window. Sharon Stone still looks pretty hot but the male lead David Morrissey was more wooden than Pinocchio. In their defence, the script was terrible... some of the worst and most stilted dialog I've heard in years. Save some time for yourself - if you must see Sharon Stone's naughty bits again do a Google search and don't bother with this movie.

Kenny. Fantastic! A great Australian comedy in the tradition of The Castle. Some real laugh-out-loud moments and a lot of warm moments about a humble and honest man doing a tough and dirty job (supplying port-a-loos to outdoor functions). "There's a smell in here that will outlast religion". Really worth a watch if you want to see some good acting and great dialog without all the Hollywood special effects trying to cover up poor writing craftsmanship (are you listening Tom Cruise... no probably not).

Thank you for Smoking: Based on Christopher Buckley's novel this was a really good movie. Satirical comedy, poignant moments, biting satire... all the good stuff. It felt a bit like a movie length episode of The Office, or The Games. Not that this is a strident anti-smoking movie by any stretch - it pokes fun at everybody in the debate. Great stuff. One of my favourite lines is when a tobacco executive is berating his marketing guys for not selling more cigarettes: "We don't sell Tic Tacs, we sell cigarettes. And they're cool, available, and addictive. The job is almost done for us."

Solo. I had heard nothing of this movie and didn't know what to expect. What a treat. This is an Australian movie staring Colin Friels, probably best known as Detective Frank Holloway in the TV series Water Rats, but I really loved him as Javo in Monkey Grip (aside: another great Australian movie. Noni Hazlehurst as a heroin junkie, and a hot sex scene... that's right Noni from Play School!). Anyway, in Solo he is an aging mob hitman in Sydney who wants to retire from the game. I won't give a way the story but it has none of the usual Australian heart-rendering stuff (Gallipoli). It's a straight-up crime genre flick with great twists and revelations, taut psychological subtext and believable dialogue... which just happens to be set in Sydney, and has a clever Australian take on the organised crime scene. See it and enjoy it.

That's nice, but what about those movies you watched in the hotel room?;) Aye, aye, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.;)
Uh, sorry. Couldn't help it.:rolling:

Anyway.....

I've been looking forward to seeing this since watching it come together on Project Greenlight. It would be great if they could somehow bundle the episodes with the eventual DVD release.

There's two recommendations I'll take on board, Kenny and Solo. Thanks for the heads up Diabolical, custos. ;)

re Noni Hazelhurst - she was also particularly good in Fran (a very good movie) and, from memory, that biographical film she starred in, Nancy Wake, was okay too.
There was one scene from a movie, I forget the name of it now, where a heavily pregnant Noni played same in character and was floating naked on her back in a lake, beautifully swollen abdomen and enlarged breasts on display. Quite something.
