Could you be thinking of Charles Bronson? His wife, actress Jill Ireland, died of breast cancer.

I think you are right! - Did they make any movies together?

They co-starred in quite a few films while married, and one (The Great Escape) when Jill was married to her first husband, actor David McCallum.

"I'm in so many Charles Bronson films because no other actress will work with him"

:) Thankyou, that's right. That movie has an all male cast?

Went and saw A Scanner Darkly at the Astor Theatre (i love that place). Was a Friday night so it was packed. But everyone enjoyed it... except my dad :p. Was thoroughly enjoyable, except it lost me at the end with some twists. Wont go into any more detail. If you're curious, or want something a bit alternative to watch, this is perfect.

Watched Shindler's List with the grandparents. We all enjoyed it. A bit long, but captivating with its realism. Very good

Yeah I think it does. Its one of my fav films, and I'm racking the brain, and apart from maybe a few extras at the train station and on the train, definitely a full male cast.

Watched, late last night, one of my all-time favourite action movies, the 1981 Walter Hill film Southern Comfort. Its the one with Keith Carradine and Powers Boothe about a troop of Louisiana national guardsmen on an exercise in the swamp which brings them against hostile cajuns. This is a lean, taut and intriguing study of group disintegration which takes a similarity to the classic Deliverance and turns it into a clever Vietnam war allegory. Action films don't impress me too much generally but every once in a while there is one that speaks of something greater that action stunts and raw machismo and is made with skill, effective characterization and taut suspense: this is one of those films. It's an all-male cast kind of film but I like those action films which comment on and assess this kind of flawed "machismo" rather than merely celebrate it unconditionally.

I watched Deliverance this afternoon. Really good film. ;)

I thought that the group of men in Deliverance were actually more emotionally connected by the finish of their 'journey' than at the start, and that they 'pulled together' as a group through necessity to survive and through their developed sense of humanity, but the nature of that connection, the intensity of the situation that it arose from, would mean that their relationship as a group is doomed as each becomes introspective and tries to come to terms with what occurred and their own part in it.

Yesterday I watched a more recent film, Everything Put Together. A tragedy within a typical upper middle class group of American suburban mother's to be leads to the ostracism of one. Bluntly demonstrates the fetishism of motherhood, the fickleness of superficial friendship, and the tenuous nature of support networks. The eventual social redemption of the outcast woman is particularly telling.

I wonder how many video shops people go to to find that one to hire. ;) :D

I haven't heard of it, but it wouldn't interest me by the sounds of it. :|

I watched Blood Diamond at the cinemas this afternoon.

It is truly an inspiring movie which greatly depicts the conflict between the notorious RUFs, the government, the people of Sierre Leone and the multi billion dollar drug trade. It is quite politically themed and goes a long way to show how the people suffered during the time.

The movie has plenty of action, so there won't be many boring bits, or none at all.
The actors do a pretty good job in the movie, especially Leonardo DiCraprio, who seems to have a natural South African accent.
Much like Hotel Rwanda, the movie goes where it aims to......would recommend to all. :)

I'm just back from the cinema too, but different film. I saw Mel Gibson's latest directorial effort Apocalypto. This was a fascinating action / chase movie with a difference. Although the film's pretext at being an allegory for the demise of the Mayan civilization doesn't quite emerge strongly enough as more than a background, this is a tense, exciting and rewarding movie. The scenes involving the recreation of the bloody Mayan civilization are stunning and the chase sequences are always effective. Gibson here has brought a truly epic feel to the acton movie / historical drama - it makes me, as an unbeliever, even want to see Passion of the Christ again.

But what really seems important to Gibson at a personal level as a filmmaker is an overriding concern for the brutality, violence and sheer madness of pride than can underlie human endeavour (I guess his depiction of Christ was a transcendental figure in a world of innate repugnance - fallen humanity). I was most impressed with Apocalypto and what I found additionally intriguing from the man who made Passion of the Christ and someone with devout beliefs is that Apocalypto emerges as full-on scathing of any so-called religious civilization. I was unimpressed with Gibson's first films as director, but his last two are really quite extraordinary films, although subtle they definitely are not.

Watched Reign Of Fire just to see if it was as bad as people say it is. Ill be honest, it barely hit enjoyable, so that could mean a) i saw the best bits before i fell asleep, or b) after seeing lots of bad movies with friends my tolerance is increasing. So either way, wasnt very good
