I was going to hire Lars but ended up hiring Starship Troopers 3, wasn't as good as the first, but better than the second (which wasn't hard) but still enjoyed it though....

I thought the suits were good, but after shooting everything in sight, didn't leave many bodies laying around

I think I'll refuse to see this one. I've avoided No. 2. Not the same without Paul directing

So, everyone's talking about this Lars and the real girl movie - positive and intriguing comments...must keep an eye out for it...

I have an avocado, some Red Rock chili chips and wine to go with a movie tonight...hmmm...might watch A Harlot's Progress...

Lake Placid 2.
Bad movie, bad acting, bad story and really bad CGI.:rolling:

For whatever reason, they couldn't have a real sea plane, so they do a very bad CGI one and it's in the first few scenes at the lake when it arrives and then the computer guy must have found some new porn on his computer because all future scenes of the lake have no CGI plane, but it suddenly appears later when they need it.:dD

Ugh, give this one a miss.

Black Book - in the mood for something foreign last night. Absolutely fantastic film, got even more out of it this time round.
The presentation is fantastic, and looks a treat. Well worth buying.
Foxtel came through and I finally got to see this and yes, it's an outstanding movie. Even the wife came in and watched it and she usually won't watch a subtitled movie.

Thanks for mentioning it as I would more than likely have missed it altogether if you hadn't said something.

We are Marshall
True story about the Marshall University football team that died in a plane crash in 1970.
How the town and football came back to life. Nice story.. :)

The Other Final is about 2 guys who organised a friendly match between the lowest ranking countries in the world, on the day of the World Cup Final. A good doco. Not so much about soccer or the isolation of Montserrat and Bhutan in the world of soccer, but really displays a type of sportsmanship you would never see on any international match. Was nice to see these players with dreams of the big leagues be treated like superstars by the children of Bhutan. Battling for signatures and to kick the ball with the players. A couple of days before the match, the two teams even had a karoke session :D

Glad you enjoyed it. Now you have to see Verhoeven's other dutch films. All tremendous. He knows how to do a war film thats for sure. And definitely a vast improvement over Hollow Man and Show Girls. :D

Oh Black Book. Caught it on Foxtel without knowing anything about it or seeing the start and was hooked. First thing I thought was that this was like Survival Run and then I find out its Verhoeven. Bloody brilliant.

Oh. the Chinese film by Ang Lee Lust: Caution has a very similar plot except instead of Nazi occupied Holland its Japanese-occupied China but the details are remarkably similar.... well worth seeing for the comparison (plus Lee's film was almost banned in China for the sexual content)...

EDIT: Showgirls is brilliant.

Watched it last night and quite enjoyed it, much better than I was expecting. It was quite funny in parts, and the humour of the whole situation spoke to me more than any sad or heartwarming themes.

Just watched Jumper, what a waste of time.
Interesting idea, and some very cool action scenes. Also Samuel L Jackson as a bad dude was great.
But there was just no character or relationship development.
"Hey, haven't seen you in 8 years, come to Rome with me." "Okay lets go"
Obviously not exact quotes but pretty much what happens.

I thought The Enforcer was more like the first movie. Brought up a lot more issues though: rascism, sexism, treason. Great music during the long-winded chase scenes. Might go to Savers this weekend and find me a suit like Callahan  Save it for a rainy day

I liked Magnum Force. Sudden Impact is good too.

If you want to see Clint Eastwood play a very seedy kind of cop.. a very perverted side of the Dirty Harry scene, check out Tightrope. :)

Once Upon A Time In The West.
Damn I love these old westerns. Directed by Sergio Leone and excellent performances from the male leads (Charles Bronson, Jason Robards and Henry Fonda) and a plot that is actually quite good and you can't go wrong.

I first saw this when I was a kid and I think it was in the days when Bill Collins would present the evening movies (ah, those were the days) and I've always remembered the scene on the train where the bad guy thinks he sees Jason Robards' boot outside the window and he does, but when he gets closer, a shot comes through the toe of the boot and kills him and Robards leaps down with his boot on his hand with the gun inside. Great stuff!

I think I'll have to dig out The Good, The Bad and the Ugly after this. :)
