They didn't have the air conditioning on in the cinema though. Was hotter than Maggie Gyllenhaal's ass.

It is a 3hr20 min film..... in a cinema with no airconditioning...... ouch :o :eek:

I just saw Return of The King, but am saying nothing - in case any synics think I am giving a spoiler by saying anything
The best thing about seeing it early is that I can now happily sit down and watch the RotK special on Ch9 tonight without fear of spoilage. Why they insist on showing "making of" specials before the release date I'll never know. You'd still get the advertising sales if you put it on about a week after release.

Yeah all advertising material like that is a hinderance to the viewing experience. I didn't even realise a special was on. Might watch it tonight...

For many big releases I try and avoid even trailers, which I will do with the Star Wars final film.. (hide my eyes from the crap it probably will be :( )

Anyway, getting this thread back on track, watched Parenthood last night (for probably the 10th time or something). Still a great film - Rick Moranis's scene in the classroom is still one of the sweetest things I've seen in any film.

Steve Martin is fantastic, and it's always fun to see people like Keanu Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix in "before they were stars" roles.

Just finished watching The Thirteenth Floor.

A very enjoyable film, which certainly received little praise in its theatrical run and since. Matrixish in themes, but made before that film; and certainly more character driven..

It definitely is worth a look - but the 5.1 mix needs to be a little more aggressive

I just watched troma's "The hall monitor",what can i say this movie is bad really baddddd!But it's one of those movies that is so bad it's good.Everyone in the cast is a graduate from overacting school and there all having lots of fun being stupid.This is really late night cult classic stuff with plenty to laugh at with trully absurd characters.
Plenty of memorable scenes including a cheerleader dance with the carrot mascot and the coaches speech to the football team before the big game :dD

I just watched the 1998 TV movie version of Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

Not to bad really, quite faithful to the novel - but looks like it has been cut from its original run time... Don't know how it compares to Polanski's version - and probably won't go out of my way to find out either

Just watched Soul Survivor, which was quiet good. I didn't get the twist at the end, I had all other scenerios going through my head.

Yer I gave that a viewing aswell. Wasn't the best but good for a few laughs here and there.

Just watched the director's cut of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels .

Definitely Ritchie's best film, terrific cast, terrific story and armed with colourful language.

You won't forget the characters in a hurry with classy names such as Hatchet Harry, Barry The Baptist, and Nick The Greek.... But if you plan on buying this DVD import the R2 director's cut as it adds much more to the film.

(the R2 DC does state it is R4 aswell, but that is bollocks - it is R2 only)

Well just finished, well last evening anyway watching Life of Brian. Very funny the first few watches, but after a while it gets plain annoying. Might me a disc which ends up being traded..

But before that I watched Killing Zoe (I forgot about this one)... I brilliant film from Roger Avery, done in a very European style. Eric Stoltz is great and Julie Delpy looking as sexy as ever. Probably more so then in Blanc.

A must have title for anyone interested in a good heist caper.

And the final film in my Sunday evening trilogy was Platoon. Oliver Stone's wonderful Vietnam War epic, depicts the war as it was - which amazingly still enabled the film to win the AA. I would've thought politics would have gotten in the way.

Willem Dafoe is brilliant again, and the brutality of the soldiers, and how the war can lose the innocence of men is superbly crafted.

A must have in anyones collection

Dinner Rush . I watched this last night- great film, about gangsters and Restaurants in New York. An Excellent Cast and a terrific story- if you haven't caught Dinner Rush before, and you like films with Restaurants as a back drop to the story, would recommend this. :)
