Wanted blu ray,a stupid idea for a movie but everyone looks and sounds great.More serious than Shoot em up which is the obvious reason it got green lighted. One for LD when he's feeling brainless.
:p Might have to load it up and set it to repeat endlessly then.
Saw Into the Wild on Saturday night. Pretty good film, particularly the whole "Zen" of pitting yourself against the elements/throwing yourself to the four winds kind of thing. It was a slow and contemplative film, very carefully assembled by director/screenplay writer Sean Penn. The main character was a little undercooked though - he was interesting, but you really didn't get the full sense of his rage with his parents motivating his actions. He was a bit too placid I guess, and a little two dimensional as a result. Surprising, given Sean Penn's vast experience as an angry young man. That said, the philosophy driving the piece was really quite something. "Happiness only exists when shared."

JB-Hifi got a special on: buy one Blu-ray get one free. So i plan to go tomorrow and claim 30 Days Of Night and The Shining. cant wait.
Working my way through the 2nd season of Entourage. The surprisingly short 1st season was impressive. 2nd season is ok, plot is gettin a lil too attached to each episode which is what keeps me from watching shows like Dexter and LOST. At least each episode is only 30mins. It kinda seems like the dudes Sex & The City, except it wont appeal so much to happily married adults. So shallow... so very shallow, but hey, arent half bad if you look past the deceptive facade
Bought The Shining, Identidy and, 30 Days Of Night on Blu-ray today. Looks fantastic
i saw TWILIGHT this morning opening day.
im in love with the books and i know no movie is ever as good as the books so i didnt have any expectations. I also know that no one can be as perfect as Edward Cullen in real life so i knew that was out of the question.
the acting was laughable but the main characters were ok and did get better as the movie went on. It is very different to the book. But i enjoyed it either way :) *sigh*

Just watched the Flushed Away DVD. I thought it was excellent and much better than Madagascar - which was on TV last night. Better quality of animation and a more complex storyline. And I loved the slugs. (And that is a sentence I never thought I'd write!! :dD )

The slugs in that movie are bloody awesome. Love em in the credits, and were always the most entertaining in the Creature Comforts series.

Yeah... the Coens are great: I've written a little about three of their films. Loved Burn after Reading. If you're at all curious what I thought of it, here's a review link (http://www.widerscreenings.com/burnafterreading.html). In it are links to info about a couple of other Coens films (which have YouTube extracts). Please don't think of this as spam... just a link from one Coen fan to another. :)
I can't put what I thought of the same movies in a post to reply to you... too long and time consuming, so the above link is a shortcut. It is of course up to you whether you follow through.

Getting Square - Great Aussie flick, David Wenham is bloody brilliant in it, the court room scene cracked me up.

Saw Rendition the other night.
It was basically pretty good - well filmed and acted in particular (surprisingly good 'grown-up' performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon). The script was pretty didactic though, but why not? Couldn't agree more with what it was 'teaching'.
Some friends came over and we watched the Sex and the City movie. still as funny as the first time i saw it :dD
