Na, but he kicked plenty of ass. he was so cool with his swoerd and his not speaking and his beckoning! i bet he could have kicked blade's stupid CG ass in a fight, lol.

If you haven't seen Once Upon A Time In China II, put it on your list - that fight with Jet is one of the greats of all time. So absorbing you can almost believe there was no wirework. Choreography by Master Yuen, naturally. ;)

I watched Irreversible this afternoon.
Was made very differently and was quite enjoyable, although the story was a little lacking...

The trouble is "Brilliant fight scenes" doesn't make a brilliant movie, you still need a great script and great supporting cast.Kate beckinsale did a very good job in her leading role but her support cast was less than stellar. They weren't bad, just ordinary.I think the original Blade is a good example of the support cast really adding to the movie,"The rock" is another example.Underworld does not deliver the goods in this area.
If you want to make a truly great action/fantasy movie that will endure in the long term you have to deliver the goods in all departments. It is a worrying trend in hollywood at the moment that they are rolling out movies with state of the art visuals and sound, but the story and cast don't match the technical excellence. You need all elements to make a great movie.Take a look at The matrix 2 & 3 to see the disaster you can finish up with if you don't have a good yarn.
I look forward to Van helsing ,i think Hugh Jackman has greater star power to helm a movie and Kate beckinsale should be a great support to this.Let's hope everyone else is good to.
Oh i dunno... i guess i just love a good Vamp or werewolf movie!

I saw Still Crazy when it was first released - that's a few years back now though. Seem to recall it was fun, but I don't remember being quite as excited as you about it. :)

Just back from seeing Underworld.
Cost of movie $15.
Air-conditioned cinema when it is 40 degrees outside. Priceless.
Movie was pretty good - Kate Beckinsale looked stunning in black leather :-)

Wow what a finish to the week,i watched Cure Dir;Kiyoshi Kurosawa last night and again today.A dark disturbing thriller made in the late 90's in japan. With some grisly murders going on the first comparison is going to be Se7en or The silence of the lambs well forget about that it's nothing like them.Nothing here is spoon fed hollywood style it is more a dark psychological study of human fears and emotions that has allot more in common with a Andrei Tarkovski movie.Don't even think about approaching this movie unless you are prepared to put in very high levels of concentration. It is a deep mind bender that becomes more disturbing when you pick up every little detail. As the director explains in an interview,"Everything in the frame is important as well as things outside the frame that we can't see but we get an implied feeling about."In fact the very last frame of the movie contains an important clue to understanding the whole movie(Tarkovski style) ;) .
It goes without saying that if you are not up to a movie that challenges you intellectually and becomes more disturbing the more you analise it in your head then don't even bother. Most of the negative reviews you will read about this movie are the "Dull, boring and didn't understand what was going on kind" so ignore that if you want some brain food.
Next was Capturing the friedmans an award winning docco about a family that disintegrated under charges of child molestation against a farther and one of his sons.Allot of the footage is from the real life home video shot by the family as well as interviews with principal people involved in the case.
Nothing here is black and white,we are presented with both sides of the case and left to make up our own minds on who is telling the truth and weigh it up in our own minds.Totally compelling to watch this is an amazing achievement that will keep everyone glued to the screen.
It's going to be a tough choice for best of the week and i still have The magdalene sisters to go
