I just watched The Happiness of the Katakuris OMG Takashi miike turns his hand to doing a musical :dD Is there nothing this man can't do?
Well with miike's twisted way of looking at life you can rest assured this isn't a remake of Grease, what we have here is more like the dance of the dead karoke style. :dD
Miike you are a god!
Now i'm just putting on A man apart with vin somethingorother in it :p

Well Eric you know how much I loveeeeeee Vin, but I didn't keep my copy of A Man Apart, I found it very average. But not because of Vin I thought he was great and he had some moving scenes. But the whole plot, script etc just didn't do it for me. Shame as Im up to 10 Ray Liotta movies (he is such a great actor) but only have 3 Diesel ones SPR, Boiler Room and Pitch Black. Can't stand stuff like XXX and Fast and Furious.

I just watched Kids return ,another great movie from wonderful japanese director takeshi kitano. It's about two young guys who bum around school not knowing what to do with there lives. After they get kicked out they find themselves on different paths. One spends most of his time down the local boxing gym looking to become a contender while the other finds work with the local yakuza. This is a soulfull look at how hard it is to avoid the pitfalls in life when we are young and stupid and how easy it is to lose friendships by the choices we all make.
A top notch effort from all involved in this production makes it a must for anyone interested in kitano's work.

Just watched the adaptation of the Virginia Woolf novel Mrs. Dalloway. Generally I shy away (or run from) from such pedigree literary adaptations but this one proved to have an intriguing visulization of the way memory interjects itself into the lives of the ageing and a sense of just how people wonder about the choices in their lives and what could have been if... (in particular one woman's choice between a "safe" man and a more rebellious one). The fact that the same characters are portrayed by different actors at two seperate times in their lives (youth and age) reminded me of the Judi Dench / Kate Winslet film about Alzheimers - Iris. Knew what the film was doing, but still found myself removed from it and uninvolved.

I just watched Suicide club OMG the japanese sure are on the cutting edge of experimental cinema arn't they! You have to admire a bunch of young filmakers let loose in tokyo with a camera, alot of schoolgirls and a very sick sense of humor :D .
It's kind of dark satire Man bites dog style with a nice tip of the hat to kubrick's A clockwork orange.
They really are exploiting the fact that hollywood has no b@lls anymore.Long live asian cinema, the new wave is here!

Ben wasn't that sweet in Sexy beast but he is a great actor no doubt.
