I watched Versus last night and all I can say is
In the Forest of Resurrection there is some seriously weird sh*t going on.
Also enough blood and body parts to make Kill Bill look like a PG rated movie :D
I still haven't quite decided how good the movie is, it's not bad, but I don't think it's really up there with the best.
For something really bizarre, there was a trailer on the dvd for a movie called Pistol Opera.
Has anybody seen that?
I havn't come across Pistol Opera anywhere yet.It does look very cool though. My view of Versus is more is not necessarily better.I have the directors cut and i reckon it meanders on to much between the action. It really could do with 30 min cut from the movie leaving in all the over the top violence and turning it into a shorter, sharper more tightly focused movie.Sticking to the Sam Raimi school of not going over 90 min under any circumstances may have been the way to go.

I just watched Aileen;Life and death of a serial killer .A really good docco on the tragic and pathetic life of Aileen Wuornos.I wish i had seen this before watching Monster because it sheds a whole new light on how stunning Charlize Theron's performance was.The interview footage with Aileen as she gets closer to execution is truly frightening and bizarre in the extreme, yet she was found sane and fit for sentence to be carried out by the doctors.

Watched an unusual Roger Moore film, from before he became James Bond, The Man Who Haunted Himself, a rather offbeat psychodrama. Nice sense of a split mind, a man tormented by an apparent double, and a provocative idea that the unconscious can externalize an alternate, perhaps idealized self into existence. An intriguing, thoughtful and enjoyable psychological puzzle movie.

Its a wonderful life, very cheerful old movie with a bunch of old people who are probably all dead now, its black and white and not just literally. 9/10

I have just been watching my newly acquired dvd of the magnificent movie Good bye,Lenin! .Even better the second time than the first this is a movie that will get plenty of attention in the future and the r3 disc is a bargain at $13 usd.It has 1.85/1 anamorphic widescreen transfer,a good 5.1 German soundtrack and the English subs are as good as i have ever seen.It is only a dv5 single layer disc but there are no obvious flaws in the transfer and it looks identical to what it did in the theater with a soft filmic feel. One weird thing is runs for 116 min (The same as the r2 pal version)even though it's an ntsc dvd.I couldn't see any cuts from what i saw in the theater so i can only assume that this version was mastered from a pal source.Ohh well it was cheap so it might warrant a repurchase if we get a groovy special edition one day.

Yeah that happens SHY. I have several going at the moment. Has taken me four go's with a PTU I have at the moment. I seem to last 20 mins, then have enough of it -- but there is just enough going on to make me interested in knowing what will happen

Last night watched my first movie with no subtitles Ong Bak.
There's plenty of action, so you can live without subtitles, but there are a few scenes that you just have to sit and wonder what they are talking about.
It's a bit strange really because the opening titles and closing credits are dual language (Thai and English) and the dvd menus are also in both languages, but there's not a subtitle to be seen anywhere.
Anyhow it made for a bit of a change from the standard kungfu fighting, this Muay Thai fighting seems to be all knees and elbows.
A couple of good chase scenes, one on foot and one in motor scooter taxi thingys. I had seen some reviews saying that this guy could be the next Jackie Chan or Jet Li and it's not hard to see why. Some of his acrobatic type stuff in the chases was very Jackie Chanish.
Storywise it was average, but who cares about the storyline in these movies, as long as the good guy wins and the bad guy gets what he deserves.
I'll be looking for part 2 when it comes out. :)

Watched 2 yesterday evening.
Started off with PTU, another HK Police film, which was average at best. I didn't like any of the characters due to a major lack of character development, and the film was tedious in the end.
Thankfully the next film Ditto was a pearler. A time travel thing like Frequency, the girl is in 1979, the boy in 2000 and they communicate through a HAM radio. The film was much better than Frequency ever reached, focusing on drama and human emotion much more, as well as a delightful score. Highly recommend this to everyone.
