I watched a movie called The Dreamers last night. It's one of those naughty french movies that Brian Harradine and the family association tend to get all hot and bothered about :D .
The movie is centered around three young people in france during the late 60's,with a love for movies and looking for a voyage of self discovery.Directed by Bernado Bertolucci and gorgeously photographed by Fabio Cianchetti this is a beautiful movie to look at.The question is if it is all style and no substance?I'm not sure about that one,i think it will take another viewing to make up my mind on that one.
If style looks this good though i think i can force myself to sit through it again.Be warned kids The is nudity in it :dD

Just watched Tokyo Raiders last night. Pretty lame Hong Kong action/comedy. Be warned, stay clear out of this. Not too funny and the action is quite typical Hong Kong style.

This is the movie that has the really bizarre soundtrack isn't it?
I thought the movie itself was average, but I loved the completely inappropriate and unexpected music. :D

I don't know what you mean by bizzare, but the main stars are Tony Leung and Kelly Chan.

I'll have to try and find it to check now, because it must be nearly 2 years since I watched it, but I was sure that was the one with music that seemed really out of place in a Hong Kong movie.

I had the pleasure of watching Takeshi Kitano's "Sonatine" last night.Another brilliant film from the master of Japanese cinema it blends cold brutal violence with silly lighthearted moments and gives us slow poetic meditation on humanity.Almost as good as his masterpiece Hanna-Bi

Watched The Calcium Kid last night. Funny English comedy with Orlando Bloom, with similar themes taken from Snatch and Rocky.
Well worth a look

I watched Shinjuku triad society last night, the first movie in the black society trilogy from the warped mind of Takashi Miike. This movie was made in 1995 and is not as smooth as some of miike's later films. It's raw, cold and brutal as miike goes out of his way to push our noses into the grimey underbelly of crime gangs.Kind of like having a finger hacked off with a blunt instrument and the bloody stump pushed into salt water.
A late night special :)

I've just watched Dark Water and I think it was so scary... especially when my dvd player froze just at the right scary moment... :( I had to reload it .. I couldn't believe it happened to me especially when it was the Madman/Eastern Eye version. Anyway it is highly recommended for all the fans of horror out there. :)

I tought the Terminal was great.Tom Hanks is an absolute genius.I have always liked him but if you had have told me in 1980's after movie's like Big and Bachelor Party which i loved by the way that he would star in the movies he has been in to date and win numerous awards eg Forrest Gump,Apollo 13,Philadelphia,Saving Private Ryan etc i would have laughed good and hard.
Anyway i watched John Carpenters Christine last night and reallyt enjoyed having not seen it for quite a while, also watched Escape from New York a few days ago which i really enjoyed aswell.I forgot that the bad black dude was Issac Hayes(Chef in South Park)

Hopefully mine will arrive today. I'm looking forward to it. :)
There's a post in aus.dvd about some audio problems, did you notice anything or is it a case of - if you're not looking for it you won't notice it.
From www.thedigitalbits.com
Editor's Note: since we initially wrote this review, we've detected a
number of audio/mixing errors on the DVD version of A New Hope. They are as
follows:
1) The familiar Force theme trumpet fanfare that used to play right after
Red Leader says: "This is it!" and just as the X-wings start diving towards
the Death Star's surface has been dialed back in volume so that it's almost
inaudible - it's almost completely buried in the surround mix.
2) The audio quality varies wildly as Tarkin says the line: "You would
prefer another target, a military target? Then name the system." - almost as
if the master sound element was damaged. It's very distracting.
3) Possibly most critically, John Williams' entire score for the film has
been flipped in the rear channels, so that what should be the left rear
channel is playing from the right rear channel (and vise versa). What this
means is that the rear channels don't match the front channels - instruments
heard from the front right channel come from the left rear instead of the
right rear. Again, this is very distracting once you notice it.
These problems are certainly severe enough in our opinion to merit a
repressing/exchange of the disc. We're waiting to hear back from Lucasfilm
on this issue and we'll update this review with the details as soon as we
do.

I didnt notice anything major. Some concerns on one tie fighter which seemed to be wrapped in a greenish tinged box, but apart from that no issues.
I think many people get too fusy on their expectations

Donnie Darko... the new Directors Cut. Do they deliberately cut stuff out so they can just bring out an improved version? The added bits let you understand more about the direction the movie was following rather leaving it up to the audience to guess. I like this version much better.
