View Full Version : New smart card
Hello all
Got mine about 3 weeks ago, At around 8.00pm every night just as I am
watching Mission Impossible (The Television series) on Fox Classics, the
screen goes black and E 16 comes up. I lose signal for about 15 seconds. If
anybody from Foxtel reads this, tell me why this happens
Thanks
Email em. That's the only way I communicate with em these days, and they
reply very quickly.
BTW, am I the only subscriber who has not received a new card??

They are already aware of this problem and are working to resolve it, e-mail
them and let them know it is happening to you as this may help them nut it
out.

They know it's happening,
because they caused it with their upgrades 3 weeks ago
Mine is still playing up and i'm still waiting for the tech to come.

Don't panic, I've still got my old card, so has my mother. So, there
are most likely a lot of people who haven't got them yet.

The software upgrades are a part of what's been going on.
So while they are involved, they may not actually be the *cause*.

They're looking into it. As soon as they know exactly why it's happening -
it'll be fixed.

You're welcome.

I haven't got mine yet and from the complaints I've seen, even when it does
arrive I'm going to deny ever having seen it.

From their WAY overloaded support lines.

Sure. I'll bet you $50 that when the fix is made it wont involve an over
the air software download before the problem is solved.

Well before that.

Speaking from your vast experience and insight into the matter of course?
Usually the operators have an idea about what's problematic in a big system
pretty quickly.
Identifying exactly what the problem is, designing a solution, testing and
executing it isnt usually an overnight job, however.

They caused mine to play up with their over the air upgrades,
so why can't they fix it with another over the air 'upgrade' ?
Maybe the firmware they downloaded to my UEC was'nt compatable ?
but they should know that before sending it to me.

maybe there was more than just over the air software upgrades on the
decoder. any of the eyepatch-wearing residents care to comment?
maybe it will be fixed like that. maybe it wont be. we'll see.

maybe they sent the northern european version - explains why the pictures
are upside down? ;-)

the fact its not working as well as it should suggests either it's
deliberate or its something they couldnt (or didnt) test for or expect -
like any other bug.
I received my new cards today and was amazed at the speed that they
connected them. The Fuxtel fella said, "Don't worry. The picture won't last
long. You will probably lose the signal for a while. That's normal when
switching to the new cards."
Dunno if it happened. Haven't watched it all day.
