I've been offered Windows XP Pro FULL edition for $50. the guy who is selling it(no idea what his reputation is like) says it requires no activation.
any ideas on what's wrong w/ it?(is it just plain copied? a beta edition? Etc etc??)
Doug
BTW No, i'm not thinking of buying it :)

If it doesn't require activation then it is either a copy of the corporate version as has been mentioned or it is a modified version incorporating files from the corporate version, there is a zip file available on the net called corpfiles.zip to achieve this.
Either way it's a pirate version and you shouldn't be paying the person anything let alone $50.

Most likely it was a patched copy of the WinXP RC-1 180day trial version. Cracks to remove both the activation & 180day trial limitation r readily available online.
Pre-October, the RC-1 disk was available from www.microsoft.com.au for AU$20
