Ok, I'll respond since I asked.
It was back in the autumn of 2000, March to be exact. I had just gone to Hardly Normals and purchased a computer, which I just sold recently.
We went to Chandlers, yes they existed to take advantage of the interest free. We saw a nice Pioneer DV-525 for sale, the salesman said it was multizoned (the dick was wrong but thats another story). It was for sale, for $679. We paid another $200 for 5 year warranty, and purchased Cruel Intentions that night for $39.95.
Got it home, and watched the film, with the then 2 channel Pro Logic System - which I thought sounded good.. *shudder* Well the experience of watching a DVD was too cool for skool... After watching the film, in widescreen (before I realised it was better) - I checked out the abundance of extras.. I think it had 20 mins worth - but back then that was cool.
I watched that film 3 times, over the next 5 days - before purchasing From Dusk Till Dawn, which got replaced later on with the 2 - disc R2 set. From Dusk Till Dawn was watched 2 or 3 times, then I purchase 4 titles including American Pie.. Which was watched 7 times, in 7 nights. I loved it...
By then I craved DVD, I needed the little disc flowing through my veins... And never looked back, currently attending DVD Aholics Annonymous, nightly -- which is pretty much this forum.

I don't remember when I got my dvd player I know not many people had them at the time, a friend had one I watched a movie there ( can't remember the movie either ) gee I'm doing well lol. Anyway I thought it was realy good but to me at the time still thought a VHS was just as good, then a couple of years later I was having problems with my VHS so off to Harvey Norman and got a new tv and a dvd player. A friend bought me Runaway Bride ( which I wanted to see ) so since then I buy my dvd's or layby or get them when I get vouchers as a pressie, the rest is history. :dD
