From what I've heard, the R4 is a barebones [maybe a trailer] with none of the R1 features.
Anamorphic and DD5.1 though, so that's a start :p

The Region 4 release is a bare-bones edition and the only extra is the very brief trailer used to promote the movie. Whether the Region 1 2-disc extras laden version will be released locally at some stage is unknown so I won't be buying the local version (which I had planned to do). $36.95 for a movie with only a trailer as a extra? I don't think so. I'll just rent and dub it across to DVD until I import the Region 1 edition.

again go for region 1. a fantastic review of the movie and plantinum 2-disc set (region 1) can be found @ my favorite horror movie site 'bloody disgusting' and you can read the review of what usa fans get by clicking on the link...

makes me weep for the crappy edition we get here in australia. same happened with 'jeepers creepers' we got the bare bones edition and the usa got the collectors edition with tons of extras. how come they do this? anyone know?

At least with Jeepers R4 we got a DTS track. I was hoping maybe the same would be the case with FvsJ [in which I WOULD have purchased the R4], but unfortunately not....

Possibilities:
The Australian distributors are cheap, and don't want to pay for the
extras.
They can't get a license for them in Australia.
The extras are refused classification or change the rating.

dude, try one of these sites. They'll probably work out cheaper than ebay for a new release, especially with buy-it-now, though may take a few days longer to arrive...
www.dvdpacific.com (USA)
www.dvdsoon.com (Canada)
dvdsoon is usually a bit cheaper, though it depends on the movie.
dvdpacific allow Direct Deposit for Australians too if you don't have a credit card (email them for more info - there's no info about D.D. on the website).
