Infra red on Ipaq is not very strong. I gave up on it when it had trouble
finding codes on the nevo website for foxtel pace stb etc.

Can't do the distance.

Narrowly focused - you have to aim very directly at the equipment.

I agree, personally that's what I have also experienced with my iPqa 2210
and it's Nevo software but there are other iPaq owners that say they get
very wide and strong ir output from their 2210's. It seems that there may be
a batch of these iPaq's with a fault in the physical connection between the
PC ir output and the 'consumer grade' ir output as reported by a 2210 owner
that had his repaired by HP.
I keep thinking I should get mine in for checking/repair before the warranty
expires but i'm sort of waiting to see if anything else goes wrong with it.
Also I have to agree with previous posters as far as touch screens being a
PITA in general, I don't use my old Pronto for this reason.
The Nevo software leaves a bit to be desired in comparison to the Pronto but
there is Pronto software available on the WWW that effectively turns your
PDA into a Pronto which works very well as the PDA has a far better screen
than most Prontos, especially my old B & W Pronto whose screen is total
crap.
So if you think you can live with the touch screen concept then a PDA might
be the way to go. Stick with the Ipaqs and stick with the iPaqs with the
Nevo software built in as these Nevo models also have the boosted consumer
IR output (in theory!). Some of the later more expensive models don't have
Nevo and probably therefore don't have the higher output IR...
