A mate of mine has a avr 1802, its about 18 months old an the remote has just died. Denon has a 2 year warranty.
He took the remote back to the local dealer where he bought it and was told that the remote is not covered by warranty, and they are very expensive to replace.
The dealer in question is known for talking shit, and would sell his own mother if he could make a profit.
Does anyone know if this is the case with the Denon warranty, and if so is there an alternative remote that can be bought cheaper, like a one for all remote, that has the preset code for the 1802.

Thanks.

You could try asking the US product manager?

The Australian distributors for Denon are Audio Products Australia
(who are physically located not too far from Sydney airport, but
responsive to phone and emails). Contact details are available from
http://www.audioproducts.com.au/ - please post back what you and your
mate find out when you contact them about this. When I have contacted
them previously they were very helpful.
