I've just got the Palsonic 76WSHD tv (100hz, widescreen). It has XGA inputs,
as well as two seperate component inputs.

Question is, if building a HTPC would it be best to get a high end video
card and use a component out, or use a lower end card and just use the VGA
cable to connect to the television?

Would the output quality vary with the use of high end / low end graphics
cards?

I'm mainly planning to use it to receive digital television, as well as
function as a PVR.

Palsonic TV was at Hardly Normals for $2299, got it down to $1999 with
extended warranty (now it's seven years).

HTPC looks like costing me about $1100, being a high end multimedia PC also.
You could do the HTPC for a lot less if you weren't after real time digital
decoding.

the VGA should be better then the component. (as the h&v sync are on sepearte lines to the color with vga... component usualy have the on the green line).

note: the VGA out of all video cards is not equal quality. matrox usually have the best vga out. this is an issue of DAC quality, not GPU feature/speed.
