In his review of Sunday night's Chasing Amy he writes "Adams is stunning as
the spirited Amy and her outpouring of emotion in torential rain in
unforgettable. Obviously much more unforgettable than her character name
which is Alyssa not Amy.

Haha I feel like every second review of that movie I've ever read has made
the same mistake.

He comes across as one of the few presenters on TV with an ounce of
brainpower - I think he's great but I frequently disagree with his
reviews. For all of that I prefer him to Antonia Kidman or that Bishop
woman

Atleast he had the good sense to name it movie of the week.

Oh, that's good news - given that he's an actual movie reviewer and
they are "entertainment reporters".

Who's screening it? I never thought I'd ever see that air on a free-to-air
station.

Channel 7, Sunday 10:50pm:

"Long-life best friends Holden McNeill and Banky Edwards are enjoying
success as the creators of the cult hit comic book 'Bluntman and
Chronic'. When they meet fellow comic book artist Alyssa Jones.
Holden's desire for the beautiful charmer is immediate. Alyssa,
however has her romantic sights elsewhere and yet decides,
nevertheless, to pursue a friendship with Holden. This presents Holden
with a dilemma: feeling the way he does, can he merely be friends with
this woman? Banky, who knows Holden best doesn't think so. As the
friendship deepens, so do Holden's affections for Alyssa. And
cautiously, yet effortlessly, so do Alyssa's for him. With their
relationship struggling to define itself, Banky grows more and more
frustrated at the notion of losing his best friend to emotional
adulthood."

Interestingly fails to mention that Alyssa is a lesbian..

Wonder how much of it will be cut.

Yeah, I was confused by mention of David Stratton's "review". I assumed it
was one of those intros he does when he presents a movie on TV, so for
someone to have seen the "review" it would have to already have been on.
Obviously I wasn't really thinking, as Chasing Amy isn't really the kind of
movie they have on SBS (though if it wasn't in English they probably would).

So this review of Stratton's was what then? Something recently in print? Or
the review he did of it 6+ years ago or whenever it came out?

no idea, I don't watch much of his show since Margaret turned unprofessional
and walked out on TCM, when she advocated Ken Park. (both are good, but she
is biased)

They tend to give too much away.... especially when they talk after the review.
Marg was only ever a fill in and does a good impression of a pretend critic with
brainwashed liberal ideals.

Why do I get the feeling that's going to find its way to the cutting room
floor, although might be a bit tough to cut it.

Whoops silly me. Realised just after I sent the post that disrupting the
flow or understanding of a movie doesn't bother local FTA stations when
censoring movies.

You don't ever listen do you. When you first raised this it was
pointed out that the 2 situations are not in any way analogous.

Precisely, the line will be:
