6mp
12 frame buffer / 3fps
1/500 flash sync (!!!!)
http://www.dpreview.com/articles/nikond70/
I can't see anything on it that's inferior to the D100 at first glance, I
thought it'd be a stripped down D100.
Now bring on the D2x / Fuji S3 please :)

only thing I see is the D100 has the grip option, and Flash Sync Terminal,
seems the D100 will be backup to my D100 in the end...
seems the 3fps 20 frame buffer was too good to be true, but maybe that's at
jpg basic and not worth advertising.

I thought they are saying at JPEG LARGE Normal that there is a 144 frame
buffer, at 3fps.
It is a little confusing, the 144 frame capability is not its buffer, its
dependant on a high speed CF card. The buffer itself is 12 frames in jpg
(Normal-Large), 4 in RAW (according to the pdf specs). No mention of
compressed RAW, or Compressed RAW+JPG capabilities.
A higher speed CF card seems to be able to write jpgs as fast as you can
take them, but there is no mention if it also helps increase the number of
RAWs etc

It said it can do compressed RAW. Didn't see anything about raw+jpg (though
thats never been a feature I've understood why people want it).
It can do 12 frames in jpeg/fine and 20 in jpeg/normal.

The Canon G5 could shoot non stop for 1000's of frames with the lowest
resolution. Its pretty obvious that it cant do it in RAW.
Sounds like an excellent camera. Now all I need to figure out is if I should
wait till after PMA and get the S2 (wonder how low the price will drop) or
just get the D70 in March. With photography just being a serious hobby I
just want the most bang for my buck!

I will wait for the PMA if ur S2 can wait.
With street price in Japan of Yen 120k .... I guess the D100 / S2 will have
to drop their price to clear the stock
[ somehow Singapore does not have stock of D100 now :D ]

the Nikon pdf clearly says "the D70 can capture up to 12 frames (JPEG
NORMAL-Large) images in its oversize buffer at a rapid 3 frames per second"
