People, I have heard some 'rumors' about pricing and packages. THIS ISNT CONFIRMED.

Sorry Jessica, but what has Foxtel satellite/cable have to do with digital
tv......try the aus.tv.pay newsgroup instead.

Everything I would think. Jessica was talking about "Foxtel digital".

Jessica - you mentioned 6 free to air channels.

Would the sixth be SBS's second channel?

It's a pity Foxtel couldn't re-broadcast the community 31 channels on
digital. Melbourne's analog signal is very wonky.

I believe this newsgroup is about _all_ forms of digital tv in Aus, not just
digital free-to-air. Hence it is relevant.

Her information is incorrect
some of the channels she nmentioned are not being broadcast
at this stage all the FTA channels have not signed to be rebroadcast

the published list of new channels is this (offical press release/FAQ) no
rumour

FOXTEL Digital's channel line-up will give viewers:
* 10 movie services (including FOXTEL Box Office)
* 27 FOXTEL Box Office channels
* Eight sports channels (including the Main Event channel featuring
pay-per-view boxing, wrestling and special events)
* Five kids channels
* Seven news channels
* Six music video channels and 30 audio music channels
* 11 documentary channels
* Eight lifestyle channels
* 14 general entertainment channels
* Three adult services including pay-per-view channels
* Two ethnic a-la carte channels
* Two Games channels
* One Digital Help Channel

The new channels which join FOXTEL's existing channel lineup include:
* Adventure One
* The Biography Channel
* Boomerang
* Club [V]
* Country Music Channel
* Discovery Health Channel
* Discovery Science Channel
* Discovery Travel and Adventure Channel

Also new to FOXTEL Digital will be FOXTEL Air, 30 digital-quality,
stereo audio channels that cater to all music tastes and moods - from

Beat, Latin Heat and Soul Train

The TimeShift channels are:

* Foxtel Digital Pricing to be released to the public the week of the
23rd February 2004.

* Offcial customer rollout (inc installation of return path) begins
1st March 2004.

High definition on cable ... please! Maybe bandwidth is too much of a
constraint but it would save good customers having two set-top boxes. Foxtel
could charge extra and it will compete better with rental video if HD movies
are available.
