I don't get it.Why would you need a Trailer of the film you are about to watch,on the Disc?
If you watch it before film,it will spoil it for you,and whats the point of viewing Trailer after flick is finished? I have never bothered watching one, pointless IMO.:)

I guess trailers would be really cheap to buy the rights to, and it allows a company to use words like "deluxe" and "special" totally to suck people in.
I'll usually check out a trailer once or twice but just for fun, especially as some are really well done. Then again some are terrible, particularly some of the old trailers that are just shocking...
I've been trying to think of some awesome / horrible trailers but am having mind blanks currently. From memory starship troopers had some awesome tv spots and trailers, and the 1st time i saw the id4 trailer I was blown away too. Anybody else got any ideas?

I love trailers.

I enjoy seeing how some films (especially old favourites) were marketed back in their day. Also, sometimes trailers give away scenes not included in the final cut, and can be kind of interesting.

Also, if you want to watch 'a movie in a hurry', most trailers sum up the best parts of the film because as far as they care, once you pay your admission fees they have what they're after. :D

I like it when they include other movie previews other than the movie I'm watching at the time.
Not the ones that play straight away at the start of the disc like the ones video sleazy chuck on the disc, but ones in the menu.

Like blackhawk down, contains spiderman and the one previews. In 5.1 !!! thats even better. previews are a hell of a lot better when in 5.1.
:) :)

It's pretty good on that account. I hate it when they show a glimpse of a scene not in the final cut of the movie and they don't include it in the deleted scenes on the dvd. Or worse, No deleted scenes at all, ie. Varsity Blues.

As Mac said, I really enjoy looking at trailers to older movies as I find it interesting to see how they advertised the movie back then.

I never watch trailers until after I've seen a movie though as I hate spoilers.

I enjoy watching the trailer after I watch the film. But a 20 mins featurette would be much better!

Chris so I assume that you do a lot of blind buys re your dvd collection if as you say watching a trailer would spoil a film for you

I think he means that he refrains from viewing a trailer directly before watching a film.

I do the same as sometimes trailers give away introcate plot points and as you are only viewing it moments before the movie, your brain stores that information and as hard as you try to forget it, it sticks and results in you not getting the full effects of the twists and turns of a movie.

Know what I mean?

I know what mrmacabre means. If i watch a trailer just before the movie, or even say look at the pics on the back of the box then those scenes do seem to resonate a bit in the mind. I'll be watching the movie, and thinking "oh that hasnt happened yet", etc which does get a bit annoying and distracting.
Looks like I'm on my own with old trailers but. ;)
Dont get me wrong - they are interesting and not that I buy into all the modern trailer hype but often I'll find myself wishing they had a better voiceover or music.
The worst of all though is when the studio mis-directs a movies trailer into trying to make its something its not.

I agree that i wouldn't want to watch the trailer before the movie but they can be cool to come back to at a later date.some of the old trailers for movies like alien where realy cool and take me right back to when the movie first came out. They can also be useful when you have friends and family going through your collection and they come across something they've never heard of,you can show them the trailer and they get an idea if it's something they might want to buy themselves. On the new jackie brown 2 disc set they have all the trailers for pam grier's early explotation movies, totaly cool!!Some of them are an absolute crack up,i even ordered a copy of the big doll house:D .When you see the trailer it becomes pretty obvious where quentin tarantino got the idea for the chicks with guns video.

Yes and No, usually I will only "blind buy" if its either a favourite Director or I have read good reviews about a film that I didn't get to see at the Cinema.
It may well be a film that I haven't seen for a few years >For example-Apocalypse Now-I purchased the R4 and watching the trailer would have lessened the enjoyment this movie gives me.And seeing the trailer after the movie is finished? Why bother.
Some Dvd's do come with trailers of other films,I will watch them if I haven't seen or heard of film before.
cheers:)

I'm not really into trailers much, I think it had something to do with the eighties!!!

But if they're on a DVD, I probably don't mind, but ONLY if you can bypass them!

The ones at the beginning of VHS used to really annoy me, as I wanted to watch the movie frirst, previews second, and I hated having to FF to the film.

Just my 5 cents worth...(no 2c left anymore!):D

Talking of the eighties, whatever happened to those fun, brain fluff movies they made back then??

Now, all we get is (imho) brainless teenage movies!!

Must be an age thing!!;)

Gidday Mr Mac!!

This is one of 2! His name is Comet, named so because he's an opportunist!!

He sees food, or an open door and he runs towards it at a very fast pace!!

Still, he purrs loudly, and that makes up for it!!!:D
