Pardon the obvious question, but why aren't you using .org or .org.au
instead of .com if your organisation is non-profit?

Hi, reason being the webspace is sponsored, as is the subdomain....far as i
am aware .org and .org.au domain names have a fee each year to pay....and as
no money is coming in...I had to settle for just the .com subdomain i was
given. I tried to see if an australian company would sponsor the site, but
none would even listen, so ironically its hosted in america !

because they haven't even bought their own domain name.
they are just using a subdomain of the hosting company they are using.
PS.
a .com is cheaper then a .com.au, well at least last time I checked it was. this probably also applies to a .org vs .org.au. hence www.austv.org would be a good choice.
a quick search shows that austv.com.au, austv.net.au, austv.org.au are availabe, and so is austv.org. but austv.com and austv.net is not. ok, let's see who has them ...

Ahh, computers and the Internet - my forte!! Well, .org.au domain names can
currently be registered free of charge for non profit organisations.
Unfortunately its hard to find registrars who are not intent on making a
profit out of you. But look hard, they are out there!!

I've looked but domain names as far as i can find still cost something per year to register, and until such time someone actually donates anything (via the paypal link) so i can buy one....I wont be buying a domain.
As you can see by my original post i am needing someone to work on a design and script to manage the online archive of video material, not long ago when i did it myself the video files were unprotected and unfortunately, were abused with hotlinking etc and other things...my knowledge is in the restoration side of television material more and not as much in the web design.
While I'm here what sort of material from australias tv past would you be interested in seeing on the site? Does anyone here have any material or old tapes they'd like to contribute, or transfered to a more modern format?
