only 1 sound channel

Only new to this digital stuff but I would like some help!

Just bought a new lg 76 tv and samsung stb pitcure quality is ace but I can only get 2 channel sound (In Melb sthn subs) on abc Melb And 10 digital.
Have I done something wrong in setup or is it a broadcasting problem??

The signal strength meter shows about 75% strength.

Thanks The Samsung stb has an info menu that comes up when you change channels and it shows that only abc melb and 10 digital have 2 sound channels all others have 1 sound channel the connections seem ok to me.

I had to use a scart to rc? adaptor to connect to the tv Samsung supplies only 1 &to fit the 1 I bought the original now goes to the video which records ok.
If 2 stations have 2 channel sound that would indicate to me that the box is working but the others have a problem or am I missing something.
does everone else receive 2 channel sound on all stations?

ah, so basically the STB says "recieving 2 audio channels" for some, and
"recieving 1 audio channel" for others.

hmm ...

my dgtec 2000 doesn't tell me how many channels, it just says ac3 or mpeg1.
both of which can theoretically be any a variable number of channels. plus
I have my dgtec set to convert the mpeg to pcm before sending out to my amp
(via optical digital), hence even if the broadcast was say 1 channel mpeg,
my dgtec could be converting it to two channels after decoding to pcm.
hence I can't check if the mpeg is 1 or 2 channel. (my amp doesn't do
mpeg). for the ac3, I know the box is sending it unprocessed, and my amp can
tell me how many channels.

ok, I just checked what little I can, and I get the following (note, I have
ac3 set as my prefered in my dgtec)

SD LCNs
2,10: ac3 - 2.0
7,9,3: mpeg1
HD LCNs
70 (demo),90 (demo): ac3 - 5.1 or 5.0 (bit unclear on the amp)
12: ac3 - 2.0
30: mpeg1

which leaves me to conclude that most/all SD mpeg1 broadcasts are mono, and
most/all SD AC3 are 2 channel.

actually, i think mpeg2 audio can be 5 channel, but mpeg1 is stereo only.
