Hi all,
Forgive me if my terminology is not correct but, after reading some
posts here I am led to believe that ghosting does not happen with digital
tv. However I can see some very very slight 'ghosting' on my tv. What could
be wrong? Also I cannot get the SBS World news channel, what frequency is
it, I could try manually added it in. Besides the above problems, the
picture quality is otherwise fantasic .

Thanks.

either your TV is unwell, or your cables, or you are seeing not ghosting,
but the effect of edge enhancment that some broadcasters use on some shows
before/during digital conversion.

> Also I cannot get the SBS World news channel

if you can get SBS Digital (normal) then SBS World news channel should be
available (same mux). just check all the LCNs starting with 3 (might need
to get your STB to rescan)... think it might be 33 or 32 or something.

If you're feeding a digital & an analogue signal into your tv at the same time
that can happen. When I set my tv for Ext1, Ext2 or SVHS the problem is gone.
That assumes of course that those options are available & cabled.

And before anyone gripes, SVHS is what it says on the screen :-).

Don't worry, this is just a result of a program in the matrix not doing what
it's supposed to.

I used to work with high end sgi monitors of 2048 x 2048 and more pixels
and this sort of issue always came about as a quality of the cables,

You *must* use proper cables and they should be as short as possible,
do not do not use ordinary cheapies video composite cables ?

or are you getting this ghost effect on DVI or component or S-video ?

btw: Some S-video cables I have seen are very very badly soldered
and are a heap of rubbish, go DVI or at least component ?

What TV are you playing them on ?

I don't know about the original poster, but I have always seen this
effect that looks like slight ghosting via s-video and composite
connections from several STBs to my Philips 4:3 100 Hz TV. I seem to
recall someone saying that it is due to reflections on cables using
unbalanced connectors or something like that.
