VCR+STB G-Code recording ?
It's not possible is it ?
Cannot think how VCR G-code recording of digital signal from set top box
could work .
Would need a VCR or DVD recorder with digital tuner.

I meant you would need a G-code capable VCR or DVD recorder with
an internal Digital tuner.

You can program with G-Code. In your VCR set up you have to point the "guide
channels" to the STB input, meaning presently they are probably 2=2, 7=7,
9=9 etc etc, so you have to change it to 2=AV1 (or whatever input) 7=AV1 etc
etc, and you will also have to ensure the STB is on at time of recording on
the correct channel because it will not change channel.
What brand/model VCR do you have?

correct.
as the VCR can't change the channel the STB is tuned to.
hence programming the VCR to record eg "channel 10 at 9pm and channel 2 at
10pm" wether via g-code or manually; wont work. _Unless_ your stb happens to
be on and tuned to the correct channel at the correct times.

My Hitachi VCR is capable of input switching with G-code programming
so it can do what you have instructed.
However with current TV recording technology on the market in
Australia (VCR, STB, DVD) one still cannot G-code record
different times on different channels. This was an answer I was
looking for.
It seems we will have to wait until a digital set top box that can
work with G-code programming or a G-code capable VCR or
DVD recorder with internal digital tuner arrives .
